Hello,

Am I the only one who has trouble reading the forums because of the low contrast between the background and the text on it?

Not to sound demeaning, but have to ask... have you tried both color schemes the site offers for the Community section? I just tried the whitish one and found it horrible to try and read the thread names.
Changing Background of GOG forums

I created a similar thread. There isn't really any good solution yet... :( I use the grey with white text scheme that GOG provides but it strains my eyes a bit overmuch.
IIRC, phpbb has a forum theme very similar to dark GoG. It was fittingly called method to the madness... Let me look it up.
Yep, eye strain has a name http://www.forumstyles.de/demo/phpBB2/index.php?s=73

Maybe GoG webmaster's eyes work in a different band?

Nope . I find the size of the text small .

THAT is easily fixed. Press CTRL and use the mouse wheel to scroll in. PRESTO!
This is kind of a cumbersome fix, but can be useful if there are walls of text, the contrast is just awful and you're using Opera. From the top menu, pick View -> Styles -> High Contrast (B/W). You disable it the same way you enable it. Sadly it hides all the images that aren't of the <img src yaddayaa> variety and has some other dysfunctions (like sometimes you need to keep toggling it to get completely rid of it).
Thanks to everyone for their comments and help.

I changed the color scheme and it helped a little. I'll have to combine that with some of the other suggestions. Maybe because of this, GOG might work on improving the readability of its site.

I really like GOG and will keep coming back even if they don't but it still would be nice if the did fix the readability.

I have no trouble with the darker theme, i do with the white background for the other.

I like the dark theme. Less taxing for the eyes. No problems viewing it though.
Since KoolKing's question has been answered and I don't feel like posting a new thread about this question I have to clutter the forum AND his thread title fits my question, I'm going to pull a minor hijack attempt.

Am I the only one who gets fake replies? Sometimes I get the little red flag on the top pointing me at a reply to one of my posts (It usually means someone quoted me), I'll check the thread and... there are no quotes.

I wonder if you quote someone and then edit your post and remove the quote, if the red flag thingie remains there on the ex-quoted person's browser when he opens up the site? If it does, seems like a bug people can use to annoy others.

We could put it to the test. Some of you guys quote this post, then edit your post and remove the quote and when I check the forum again, if I have red reply flags and no quotes, we'll have found out.
Did you see a reply?

Edit

Or now?

I use the bright version and I think it is okay. Don't you like it?
See, Kneethecap, that's exactly what happens. I saw the red flag, came here and found nothing. Just like I'm assuming you will, as soon as i delete your quote from my reply.
