xa_chan: Funny, I have all the STALKER games, haven't had a chance to play them for the moment, but since the Fukushima incident, I think I'll wait a little more before playing them...
Right now I don´t even have a machine to play them. But this summer a new MacBook PRo is coming! def.! :)

wait...
you don't have a machine to play old game like stalker but then decided to buy a mac? an overpriced, only half as powerful as regular computer, ugly toy?

did you just win a lottery or something so you can piss off your money on worthless stuff?

Welcome you´re the first shit head on my ignore list!
Don't turn this into a mac vs PC debate! Let's keep talking about... ... earthquakes.

I just felt the first symptoms of Japan getting hit by one. Went out to buy some printer ink and it seems we're in short supply.
Reports saying that TEPCO aim to have the reactors fully shut down.... By the end of the year?

Exactly!

I was actually asking a question! Not being smartass, offensive anything like that. I don't get why you got so angry.
I don't want a debate as there is nothing to debate here just simple answer.

which is still off topic...

anyhow

I presume at least for a decade this is it for nuclear power being used to meet our energy needs.

which to be honest is a bit f-- up. Nuclear power is one of the best sources of energy. Powerful, quite cheap and there is no real end in sight. It is also extremely safe to the environment. Safer than wind turbines I would guess (heard that stuff kills hundreds of birds every month wrecking havoc on ecosystem)

Therefore... how the hell we are gonna meet our energy needs in five years time? More coal is out of the question. If we use it then we will surely screw the planet even more. Ugh. dark times await us.

Oh yeah, you just did it in the most immature, offensive manner possible, with lots unnecessary negative statements made on no basis.
If that´s your kind of humor, I don´t want to be in your way when you´re angry.

end of line

what humor? and what angry? I just asked a question. I was curious. Never meant to offend you with anything I said nor be negative about you.
I am sorry. If you don't want to tell me you could just say none of your business or something to that extent. Calling me shithead was a bit impolite.
Those in Germany who think that shutting down all those nuke plants is great idea should start thinking about where to get reliable source capable of producing 21.5 GW (total generating capacity of german nuclear power plants).

Even now, if it werent for import from France and Czech Republic, southern Germany would experience major blackouts on daily basis.

Quite cheap? Oh yeah, when you hire under-qualified, under-protected and under-paid people to do the maintenance, no wonder you can cut some price down...

No real end in sight? Because you really believe that the amount of nuclear fuel is endless? Unfortunately no.

Extremely safe for the environment ? Wow. Not even speaking about the nuclear waste, which is here for at least - and at best - hundreds of years, which means that we're bascially giving the radioactive baby to our kids, grand-kids and grand-grand-kids, just ask yourself how the nuclear fuel is extracted, in which country and so on. For example, France obtains it mainly from Niger, a former french colony in Africa, where there's a handy dictator in charge, whom we will help stay in power as long as he gives us cheap uranium...
Nuclear power is the cheapest, cleanest, and most future oriented energy technology we have. Proposed opponents clearly haven't lived without electricity for too long. Perhaps the tone will be different when they have.

cleanest?? Hell, I'll take an oil spill any day over a nuclear waste leakage!! At least, in a couple of years, the oil spill is cleaned, but with the radioactivity, it's here for much longer...

it's utterly pro-nuclear propaganda to say that nuclear power is clean!!

yes it is cheap. compared to coal and gas it is quite cheap. and your argument is invalid in that regards as same cuts happen in other departments therefore it is much cheaper than other power sources (of course depends what area you want to power)

and no real end in sight as there is plenty of fuel left. Of course it is not unlimited but there is no fear of us running out of fuel in this century

and yes. it is safe to the environment

people are not environment. It might not be safe for people but it is safe for the planet. even if chernobyl happens once a year.

the oil spill is way more dangerous than what is happening in japan right now. The bp disaster will hunt the local ecosystem for decades. the radiation will not.

One word.

Half-time.
