I used to go to the site called smashword - it was site for drm-free free/cheap books, I used it to read legally obtained books, but was never happy with quality so I drifted away...

But let's talk drm-free books or books in general and all that mesh... Not necessary what you're reading now...
Books, books. Too many of them. Not enough room. Old editions often more sturdy than current ones (tied instead of glued, and, well, the ones that didn't survive time aren't there anymore), and I like old brown-ish coarse-ish paper better. Also, paperback covers were coolers, with paintings or drawings instead of photos collages.

Also, heavy stuff.

Digital versions are cool for word search. Modern books are good for better index. Older books had less typos than modern ones printed at counter-productive paces. What else ?

Love the atmosphere of second-hand bookshops.

Never heard of smarshwords. Using bookdepository quite a bit, though.

My best friend has a first edition of Mein Kampf. Makes me laugh.

Not signed, though.

Better to have the Grail Diary signed...

(even better to have the pass signed...)

Ah, books! Real books, not those electronic ones. Nothing beats the feeling when you have a real book in your hands and flip thru the pages.

Yeah, it always makes me think of it.

Also we sometimes joke about the evil radiated by this thing, we feel like it'll burn through the furniture like the ark in the crate (for opposite reasons).

Yep.

I've never managed to get used to books on screen. For one, when trying to read on the computer I always think that there's something better I could be using the laptop for. Like games. Haha
