thedkm: Castlevania Circle of the Moon

I reached Underground Warehouse, my character is level 35.

dtgreene: Did you do the waterway yet? (You're not intended to do this before the warehouse, but the game doesn't strictly enforce this.)

Also, the modes that unlock after beating the game are fun, even though they're mostly just stat changes.
No, I haven't done that level yet, but I'm having fun farming Holy Armor, which yields 1,700 xp each time.

As for the new modes, I'm not a big fan of new game+.
Tomb Raider 1 (remaster)

Still in the same “Lost Valley” level, I've finally found a way forward and defeated the T-Rex. All that's left is to find the other parts of the Cogwheel.

DOOM + DOOM II (2024)

This version made me want to get back into Doom II, Master Levels and Final doom (with Tnt Evilution).

Deadly Games

I've found the perfect team to progress in the Main Campaign, because before I was only taking level 1 novices and it was a real pain, with more wasted shots than anything else.

Dead Island 1

With my character (the woman who worked in the secret service), Xian I believe, I arrived at the island's lighthouse, or unless it's an aid station I'm not sure... it's not the building where you have to restore power, but the next one, which I remember is close to a gas station.

Resident Evil 5

Just for fun, I'm replaying the game on Xbox One, I'm on act 2-2 , thelevel where you have to survive in a train station.

Quake 2 (Remastered)

I'm replaying the game (I never finished the basic game) on “Medium” difficulty, and my progress has reached the “Ammo Depot”.

Swat 4

Stuck in the “Discotheque” level, no matter how many times I try this damn mission, there's always some well-hidden moron to come and spoil my life.

Dragon Quest 8 (on pause):
* Defeated that one flying boss with a scepter.
* About to fight the guy with the scepter.

Dragon Quest 9:
* Just killed a dragon boss.
* Going to have this game's prison sequence soon.
* A bit overleveled due to doing the sidequest to get Hustle Dance, but the game might at least be making an attempt to catch up. (I have a level 37 Priest; that's only 1 level away from Multiheal, not that I need it at this point when I also have Hustle Dance.)

One observation: DQ9 treats its female characters much better than DQ8. (DQ8 overly sexualizes the only female party member; DQ9, on the other hand, has female NPCs with significant agency and lets you make the entire party, including the protagonist, female.)
I've have so many games in progress, it's ridiculas lol. I can't seem to finish a single one before I pause and start a different one.

Grim Dawn (Dawn of Masteries mod)
- Trying several builds, since there are 54 masteries (crazy amount of combos).
- But I haven't gotten to the Warden (Act1) yet on any of them. Though I am enoying testing each one.
- For now I paused it to play other games. So far about 7 or 8 combos created.
- I really should at least finish the main base game story, though I won't start the 1st DLC until it's patched. Apparently there is a serious bug in that section of the mod with many people reporting constant game crashes.

Grandia II (currently delisted)
- I'm really liking the game, so not sure why I paused it. Maybe I was grinding too much in the game and got lost in it.
- I actually partially played last year, but restarted it about two mnoth ago. Had to restart to refresh my memory.
- I think this time I got to the 4th area (past the 2nd town I think) before I paused it. Last time I got further I believe.

Bound By Flame
- I'm actually having a lot of fun with the prologue, but I paused right after.
- My own fault cause I read guides/walkthroughs too much on this one lol.
- So giving it a cooling off period to forget a lot of the info and won't use guides for it again (unless I really get stuck).

Dark Quest 2
- Got repetetive fast, so did progress far.
- But probably the main reason I stopped is the level up process.
- I mean random stat allocations? Ughh. I rolled INT (useless for this class) for my melee fighter 3 times in a row...

So currently replaying a campaign of:

Sins of a Solarr Empire Trinity (Entrechment only)
- I just started a TEC campaign, with 3 Advent and 3 Vasari. Whatever race I play, I usually don't use that race for that campaign.
- So far I just colonized my 6th planet and omw to the 7th. So far so good, but I forgot to add a pirate planet haha.
- It's a custom map, but I forgot to include a pirate planet, though I did make it so that every planet has a neutral faction.
- I was wondering why I never got a bounty notice lol. So always check your custom map design!

Sins of a Solar Empire, Master of Orion 2 and Imperium Galactica 2 are my cooling off period games lol. I may switch to SoaSE Rebellion after I eventually get the Minor Factions DLC.

I have a bunch of others on pause, but this post would be huge if I listed them all. =P

gog2002x: Bound By Flame
Heh, stopped playing that one in June of 2021. I think in part because I couldn't one-hit something with backstabbing and got frustrated, not that it really mattered in practical terms but it wasn't "right", and in part because I had to keep the graphics on rather poor detail to be able to play and also wanted screenshots to submit on Mobygames and the low detail wasn't good for that, plus that I have to play windowed to be able to take screenshots at all, won't work in full screen, but if I select a resolution that uses all the screen width it only works properly for a little while after reboot, then when I tried to start the game again the window shrunk a little so the borders would also fit in the screen, and the resizing really messed up the look, it all looked... foggy, and couldn't figure out why, and said meh, forget it, maybe when I'll get a better computer... which is still pending...
Anyway, seems like I still had to find the cure ingredients at night and find the lair of the werebeast in chapter 1.

I have a 6700k with 1080 EVGA (from 2016, kinda old pc now) and it runs smoothly and looks great. So it does sound like once you upgrade, it may run better indeed. ( I need to upgrade again, but I shudder at the cost of another gaming pc lol. My current one can't even support Windows 11 sadly.)

I actually played the game to that part a while back I think, but I never finished the game. This is 2nd restart I guess lol. I play mostly as a mage and melee/stealth only when needed. Though I think stealth works for casting too, not sure if I'm recalling that right.

Are there some particular screenshots you need? I could try to take some, though I'm not far into the game atm lol. Also, everything as far as settings is default for me, I didn't resize or change anything. I could look up what the settings are and post some screenshots of it if you need.

*shrug* Usually check the MG entry of a game I play and if it doesn't seem to have enough or good enough screenshots (for smaller/simpler games, enough to give a good idea, for more serious ones, limit used to be 40, then 50, but it's a soft limit, can be exceeded if they're good enough) I take shots as I make my way through the game, start with just about every UI element and then try to pick moments that give a good representation of the game start to end, trying to avoid spoilers. And currently that game just has a few shots: https://www.mobygames.com/game/65493/bound-by-flame/screenshots/windows/ and I just took a few shots of the menus and one of a loading screen at high settings, actual game wouldn't load with those.
But, ya know, I have a Pentium G3440 with just its integrated graphics, so go figure.
Settings that allow playing at 1280x960 (monitor resolution being 1280x1024), medium shadows, normal SSAO, FXAA enabled, normal particles, high texture quality, low x2 anisotropy, dynamic resolution yes, max field of vision. Of course, allow playing by my standards, since I'm used to games being really choppy. Anyway, screenshot settings: ultra shadows, ultra SSAO, FXAA enabled, high particles, high texture quality, high x8 anisotropy, dynamic resolution yes, max field of vision.
And see what difference that squeezing makes, since it happened now (1276x960 for first image). I mean, sure, different settings too, and the JPG corruption is also to factor in, but that's in both cases (and actually the proper shot is at 99% and squeezed at 100%, since proper was a bit too large for GOG at 100%), just look at how fuzzy the squeezed shot is, definitely unacceptable.

Anyway, hey, if you can take and submit the shots to document the game, go right ahead. Guess I might as well submit those menus now since I have them dangling around here for over 3 years.

Oh, and to answer the OP, current game is Siege of Avalon, chapter 1, should be investigating the tunnels.

Haha it's exactly me, I completely recognize myself ! XD

Fallout New Vegas

Exploring the map, I came across the town where I first encountered the Legion.

Out of curiosity, I followed them to a town where I learned from soldiers that it had been contaminated by the Legion.

As soon as they arrived, Caesar's henchmen were slaughtered quite easily, so when in the game we regularly learn that the RNC is afraid of them, it makes me laugh.

Then I visited other towns, including the one with the big dinosaur, and a “Repcon” test center with ghouls guarding the entrance.

So far, I'm having fun exploring and it's working out perfectly for me. I'll start the quests later.
My main problem in getting to New Vegas is the Death Claws that kill me every time.

More Dragon Quest 9 stuff:
* In the final dungeon, but now remaking my party because the developers made it so that you can't complete the quest for the Sage class until the final dungeon.
* Fighting Liquid Metal Slimes, for either XP or quests (at least 2 quests require killing one with a specific attack), can be frustrating. Last time I went hunting them, I had cases where I'd get horrendous luck the first round (multi-hit attacks failing to do damage with *every* hit, for example), and it would run at the start of the second. There's also the issue of getting them to spawn. After completing the game, I may use a save editor to add in a grotto map with a floor that spawns only this specific monster (which exists thanks to a bug).
* Hustle Dance, while annoying to get (and risks overleveling you) is quite useful in the late game, and probably early post game. Free healing to the entire party is handy. (There's a weaker alternative, using the Cheiron's Bow as an item, that has the advantage of requiring nothing more than a late game shop purchase.)

(Side note: If you've never seen a metal slime type enemy run away, you haven't played enough Dragon Quest.)
The Tides of Darkness campaign on the Human side is finished.

I've still got the Orc campaign to complete, and I'm on mission 10.

In the Beyond the dark Portal expansion, here's my progress:
Humans & Orcs both at mission 5.

Have just started Mafia - Definitive Edition recently, and I've reached the part where the Salieri family wants revenge on the Morello family for attacking Sarah, the daughter of Luigi Marino, a bartender at a bar that Don Salieri owns.

Here are the finished maps so far:

I've recently finished GDI mission #4 from Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations.
Short and relatively easy, it was a welcome pause of respite after the previous ones, which were way harder, nos. 2 and 3 being particularly difficult, especially in comparison to the base game (but nicely designed).
There are 7 GDI missions and 8 Nod missions in total. They don't seem to pertain to the simple "amass an army and destroy the enemy" variety. They require you to understand the necessary steps to achieve victory, almost in a puzzle-like fashion. It will take some time to complete this expansion... definitely not for the faint of heart.

Speaking of difficult games: I've also managed to complete the first four worlds in Descent II. Man, that last boss was a real nasty... even tougher than the already hard third one.
Generally I'm finding this second chapter more challenging than the first, but also less fun and compelling, although still good. Somehow I'm reminded of Crusader games: they tried to make the sequel bigger and better, but they just pumped up the challenge while essentially keeping the same look-and-feel, so it ended up being harder and less enjoyable in spite of some nice innovations.

I'm also at mission 15 in Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. Mission 14 was pure hell. I'm advancing so slowly... like I'm crawling under enemy fire. Yet there are few games I want to complete more. It's already been the longest journey in my gaming history so far... will I ever reach the end?

Finally, I've reached the fourth boss in Spinch. I wasn't able to defeat it on first try, but many a day has passed since then and I haven't tried a second time still. I must confess, I've not enjoyed the game that much. I managed to get that far by sheer will alone, to prove myself I could overcome the challenge, but it's really one of those hard-on-purpose games ("precision platormers"?) that make you want to pull your hair off. I'd like to gather enough conviction to try again and reach the fifth and final world, to at least see how it's like, but I'm not sure I'll ever will...
nineteen hours in!
I'm more than half-way through. Though, the original trilogy is tricky to get all the extras.

I'm completely immersed.
100%!!!
