Don't they? NDAs during contract negotiations are pretty normal, the last thing that the store wants is for some other store to know what their competing against while the contract is being negotiated. Afterwards isn't as much of an issue.

He didn't like the contract terms, so he didn't accept them. Like it or not, he IS a big name in the industry, and given that his game will probably be getting significant exposure on Steam's front page anyway, he has no reason to bother arguing with smaller distributors over contracts. That's not being an asshole, that's just the smart thing to do. Frankly, I would think GOG has more to gain from distributing The Witness than Blow does.

If this were about a developer refusing to distribute through Steam for similar reasons, everyone here would be applauding.

He's one of the most famous solo indie developer out there, and he's spent 7 years polishing the game, so maybe $40 will end up being resonable. It just depends on what people are willing to pay. I certainly couldn't sell a similar game for $40.

You're making some very harks judgements about a game you haven't actually played. The last game Blow released was a massive hit. But it's been 7 years since that. So The Witness could go either way, as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly, I actually think it's nice to see an indie with the balls to compete with AAA titles price-wise. Whether he has the product to back up that conceit remains to be seen.

The last game Blow released didn't cost €36.99. I doubt that a puzzle game will be a big hit at that price. Puzzle games are not that popular.

Not exactly, though. Seems from the comments here lots of people will be "missing out". I don't think anyone in this thread is "no gOg, no buy." Some of us don't buy on Steam, but I personally have about 500 DRM-free games from other sites. I'm "missing out" cause I just don't like the guy.

The price tag tells me that The Witness is going to be a bigger, higher quality game. In fact, Blow claims it'll take around 80 hours to fully complete it - which I'm going to guess means 100 percent completion. Also, The Talos Principle had the same price and that was also a puzzle game.

Blindspot isn't a terrible show, but no harm in not seeing that, but... you haven't seen Pulp Fiction?
