Firstly - you may notice I have not placed blame on anyone, neither gOg nor Blow. To me, a negotiation like this sis normal practice (you kind say just as much yourself). If anything - the problem is the timeframe and Blow should have started it earlier. However, if it ends up without any deal because gOg refuse any negotiations, then I will blame them. But if it falls through rescue of unreasonable demands from Blow, then it will be his fault. The problem Herr is that non of us know any details.

Regarding - different contracts for different publishers.... what do you think those lawyers are getting the big bucks for? And it is up to everyone to negotiate the best deal possible. The difference between s small indie and a large publisher (like Disney) is experience, clout and time money. Disney can afford long protracted negotiations, most Indies can not and tend to not have the experience. You will also never see any such contract, as they will be bound by NDA's.

Lastly, while I am not putting blame on anyone, you certainly are doing so. But consider this, is not Blow just doing what any sensible person should do? ie. Read a contract before signing, and do not sign anything you do not agree to....

Sorry to disappoint you, but I doubt in most cases you even get a lawyer involved except maybe to give the contract a quick read through. Do you really think Steam is bringing lawyers to the table and negotiating for each and every game on the service? If someone has a game in which they own the clear rights for (like selling a car and there is a clear title), here's the standard contract. Look it over, maybe run it by an attorney. Sign and return.

At worst, you negotiate the terms back and forth through E-mail, when you finally agree, the company draws up the contract, same process. This idea that lawyers are following everyone around for every decision says you watch too much television.

Sorry, but GoG is better off without this guy and his games. And maybe this serves as a good example why some other games aren't here. And should GoG let Mr. Blow schedule his own sales? Or change the price of his games on Tuesdays? Or whenever he wants? My understanding of his gripes with GoG's contract were that he didn't have complete and total control over price changes and sales. On Steam, if someone wants to raise the price of his game to $200, he could, Steam doesn't care.

No, according to the report he didn't like GOG's terms, not that he had complete control of it even if it might mean he wants more control. I seriously doubt he wants to suddenly charge $200 for a game, that has not happened ever, given his already, relatively high price tag for an "indie" title.

It's all speculation in the end, none of his information on the matter can be verified by a trusted party and GOG has not revealed anything.

There have been reports his issue was the terms involving pricing and sales. There is not just one report as you claim.

But it really doesn't matter. The point is, most of the games rejected by GoG were not very popular, most with poor sales on Steam, and these desired games, GoG could not reach a deal. Too many people are trying to conflate the two of these. Braid and The Witness were not rejected by GoG. Period. Despite misleading titles on some of these threads concerning "second chances" and "rejected games".

The facts are a couple weeks ago Mr. Blow called the GoG contract "predictably lame" and then recently claimed he didn't have time to deal with GoG because the game just got finished. Basically, seems he is making shit up as he goes and likely has no real intention of bringing his games here. From his Tweets, he's clearly a bit of an egotistic hothead anyway.

So the answer to the OP appears to be "No".

There is really no point continuing. I do hope at some point you get the experience of running your own business, you will quickly notice it is not the same as renting a flat or buying a car....

I am not excusing Blow, but he saying gOg are dicks on Twitter, and not signing a contract he do not like are two very different issues. The former is unprofessional, the later is sensible. (Try googling "poisoning the well").

And it is as he says, he do not need gOg, so there is no reason for him to bend over to be here. Therefore, it does not make sense for him to sign a contract he do not like.....which really no one should...

Those who want the game DRM free, can already get it, and those who only buy on gOg? *shrug* their own problem, and I doubt that market is very great. So the best thing to do is probably leave things alone and let Blow and gOg work things out or not. In any case, whatever the result, it will really have very limited impact on anything at all.

Anyway, I will leave it there.
