Personally, I don't think there's a sale set for this week. I think GOG had the schedule set up for Armikrog to be the release today but its delayed release left them with nothing but a pre-release instead.

The plan, at least as of 10 hours ago, seemed to be to have a classic release for this Thursday, presumably Shadow Watch. They wouldn't release a classic during a sale event. Of course, maybe that's why that post got deleted. If there does end up being a sale this week, I'd be surprised if that was the original plan.

Maxvorstadt: What about the big somnia sale? People who didn`t buy games for the longest time get the biggest discounts. For example:
One who didn`t buy for 30 days gets 30% off, one who didn`t buy for five days gets only 5% off.
I think that would only hold off people from buying stuff in the future for if you don’t buy anything for 100 days before the next big somnia sale, you get stuff for free. And considering that almost every game will go one sale one day for 50-90% discount anyway, it doesn’t look very lucrative from a buyer perspective.

Sales on GOG are mostly a surprise thing, so one couldn`t plan for a somnia sale.

Not the reason why. My post caused the deletion of the blue one.

The inverse of that is, "Is Shadow Watch a big enough deal to hold up a sale?" I wouldn't think so. Not like a Gold Box/LucasArts/new publisher scale of release. IIRC, there were game releases during the summer sale as well. Even if there's no big sale this week, I expect we'll get one within the next two weeks.

IDPLAY: So. Insomnia/End-of-Summer-Sale tomorrow or thursday?

I take it.

Painted_Doll: I'd like to see a normal sale not an insomnia one .
Me, too. Regular sale plz.

The Insomnia sales in a nutshell: "Here's some nice sales, but we're going to make it a pain in the ass for you to actually get them."

ftfy

To each their own. My first Insomnia is why my GOG collection is so large. :)

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly looking forward to the next Insomnia, but I'm not going to complain about it. :)

I'm not suggesting that Shadow Watch would hold up a sale. I'm suggesting that since Shadow Watch was planned for release on Thursday that it means that a sale wasn't intended for this week.

In the past, if there was a new release during an event sale, it was either a day 1 indie that had a hard, universal release date or it was a big event release, like the recent Telltale games. As you said, Shadow Watch really doesn't qualify for that type of treatment.

Why should they "punish" those who have spent more recently?

Oh, odd that they deleted your post as well. Though, I guess you quoted said post in your reply, so that might explain it.

You don`t know what a "Überraschungsei" is, right?

Those chocolate wax eggs with toys inside?

I can't imagine ever having nothing better to do than sit on GOG for hours/days hoping to get lucky during an Insomnia sale. Even if I had nothing else going on, I'd rather pick a random title from my library/backlog than play the "Insomnia game".

If fun is what you want in a promo, there's got to be a better way.
