a blue, discussing armello's release:

sorry to have to send everyone to steam, but basically: drm-free is too difficult. they removed it. i can't tell, yet, if that's a permanent removal or not. [and this is why you don't mess with drm, kids.]

i was looking forward to this quite a bit, but now, i'm afraid league of geeks is making me shrug and lose faith in them.
armello update:

a dev [?] in their forum posted this:

http://leagueofgeeks.com/forums/index.php?topic=1555.msg12876#msg12876

basically: they will try to get the drm free version done "in a month."

Pretty weak considering a "DRM-free" version is already out....

Maybe they should ask the pirates for help.

i don't think there's a drm-free version?

as far as i'm aware, there's only steam [and the console releases, which are "drm-by-design?"]

I was referring to the pirated release which ,obviously, has no DRM.

Ixamyakxim: I actually came here to ask about that one. So there's been word from "elsewhere" (I'm guessing the developers' site or some such) that the September 1st date was more than a placeholder? I've seen that up there for a while now and was a bit curious if we'll see it here this afternoon or not.

lostwolfe: steam updates "soon-ish" [if my experience of magic duels: origins is anything to go by] - if it gets a release there then it /should/ get a release here.

of course, if it doesn't release same day, that's a little sad :(

[edit, a bit later: did some sleuthing.]

digging around steam reveals this:

http://steamcommunity.com/games/290340/announcements/detail/808745814637528530

note the sentence:

"Armello on PC/Mac/Linux (Steam, Humble Store, GoG, and more) and PlayStation 4 (PSN) will all be available on September 1st." [their words, not mine. gog bolded for emphasis.]

[end of edit.]

[second edit]:

as of this writing, armello is live on steam. so...shortly, perhaps?

[end of second edit.]
Hi lostwolfe, these days I've seen you talking about Armello, I didn't know about this game but now I've watched some playgames and wow, it looks pretty cool. The kind of game I use to enjoy. I hope we'll have it here soon.
I'm about to create a thread called "Hell no, please no more new games for the week".
Just for... wallet purposes, you know? Maybe I'll create another one called "where the hell did my backlog go?" or something :P

the current time frame for armello is presently somewhat variable.

one guy in their forums said "a month," while another on steam said "as soon as possible."

basically they're "removing the drm." [which is dumb, but there you go.]
