bazilisek: That's going back to the lengthy debates on whether releasing newer games would change GOG's identity or not, and I think it did. It used to be a store where you could buy stuff no one else had; now it's both that and a store that's desperately trying to catch up with the last five years in indie gaming, and it's both very slow and not terribly competitive at it.

Just an idle observation, really. The concept of releasing new games is fine, but so far, most of the new releases have been very unexciting, if you ask me.
Maybe, but they DID get Jeff to release the Geneforge series at a very nice pricepoint. :)

In the end, as long as GOG still sells/supports older games(And DRM free) I think they'll continue to do well....obviously not as well as Steam, but then again Steam was one of the first to the market, and they have a shitload of dev/consumer support currently.

I agree, there "two releases a week" was a great idea for exclusives. But all the "new" games that have seen releases elsewhere should be just dumped here rather fast so that we can move on. Unless GOG has lost the knowledge to use dosbox, there are dozens of games alone in the EA catalogue that are "release ready". Or all those Eidos games already being sold on their store ...

They made a smart move with getting Telltale starting of with a big bunch of titles. But they should just have released the complete catalogue. I'm not checking GOG regularily for another Jurassic Park release ...

However, the today's release I actually consider a classic GOG (being a 2001 game), so even if it was released elsewhere, I'm happy to see it here.

I don't agree about GOG loosing its identity, but I think that there's something about "catch up with the last five years in indie gaming". Most of those games are not doing well here. I guess they should be just release as "surprise release" or something like that.

On the other hand, new indie games are doing pretty well (Botanicula or Resonance) and some even extremely well (LoG).

So I think GOG should try to sign more new indie games, and I guess Indie games with an old feeling would make it very well on GOG.

so apparently i need to scour Facebook and Twitter to learn news like this, unless somebody else happens to report it here? jeez.

half an hour, then. bracing for disappointment...
Still messy, but for everyone who does not like to visit Facebook:

Now that is respectable. If GOG cannot inform everyone of their facebook and twitter stuff, then at least our community can!

I agree it's bloody annoying. Looks like 2 newer game releases anyway so it's nothing of interest for me & every game people have guessed I own anyway. Looking at the couple of weeks of GOG I have missed... the prices are becoming a joke anyway. The Sam & Max bundles & the Monkey Island bundles can both easily be obtained in the UK for under £10. That's the whole issue, the digital market is a joke with newer releases as it lets publishers artificially float the prices when they should be depreciating.
well, Torchlight and Riddick are the new games. as expected, no good OLD games. and who doesn't already have Torchlight?!? it was 75% off repeatedly on Steam.

still no Carmageddon despite the fact that it was announced what seems like ages ago.

I dont. But Riddick is something i'd buy.

If you don't mind using steam it'll probably be 75% off in the upcoming summer sale... I picked it up in the Xmas one I think it was for about £3.49. I doubt it'll be that cheap on GOG.

Edit: Though if it hits the 60% off on GOG then the GOG version would be better...

With 60% off (if it wins) Riddick would be $5.99 which is about £3.86, and has no DRM and can be backed up, unlike on steam.

Dont get me wrong, steams alright. But Riddick here on GOG will be insta buy if its at that price.
