serpantino: Damn GOG... I'm nervous about the EA releases given how underwhelming the current batch are (missing/minimalistic content, inferior versions, lack of expansions etc) and they're dillydallying with them! I'm particularly worried about Alpha Centauri as if it doesn't have Alien Crossfire I probably won't get it and if it's $9.99 I'll have to have a think about it. (As I already own it)
Also this whole punch card idea..... we could play online using intermittent tone lines sent down the telephone cables, ala pre-internet
And talk about drama:
"You stab the orc damaging it for..."
(The sounds of cards being read)
"4 points"
(The sounds of cards being read)
"The orc casts fireball..."
(The sounds of cards being read)
"MISSED!"
(The sounds of cards being read)
"You stab the orc damaging it for...
(The sounds of cards being read)
"4 points..."
(The sounds of cards being read)
"The orc has died!"
(The sounds of cards being read)
"You examine the corpse and find..."
(The sounds of cards being read)
"10 gold and 3 jewels"
And so on as you work your way through Baldur's Gate II....
It would make an already long RPG into more of a real time (and, likely, a lifetime) experience. I guess no one could complain that they weren't getting their money's worth...
