Turning my attention away from this boring computer work to watch through the window a cow scratching her eye with her right rear hoof.

ciemnogrodzianin: Sounds like a nice Sunday!
But - how is your muscle soreness today? ;)
Virtually non-existent, only with descending down into the cellar did I experience some stiffness today.
I guess I can also put this in the bitch thread depending on the circumstances. :P

Anyway, although we are open 365, today is more or less the beginning of our "season". We are going to have at least one group here until late October.

I'm thrilled because it's the start of a new season, it's a sign that the long winter is finally over, and I love meeting new people. It sucks because it also means people screaming at me because there is a deer in the yard, because I don't know what time the Northern Lights turn on, and because I never told them when they made the reservation that our log cabin was made of wood. And yes, hose are all actual complaints I have received. XD

I think it was animals in general.
A lot of people say they want to take a trip to the north woods but what they really want to do is going to the Waldorf Astoria and stay in a room that has a really nice painting of the north woods.

As soon as they start seeing any actual wildlife (deer, bear, bats, even squirrels), even trees, they freak out. "Isn't the house a little too close to the tree line? Is that safe?" Also, no one locks their doors up here. Most places don't even have locks on the doors. This freaks them out. Then of course they say they want to rough it, but as soon as their cell phone cuts out they start screaming and turn tail back for home.

AND OF COURSE THEY WON'T DRINK THE WATER. XD We have a 250 ft well that is cleaner than any and all bottled water sold in this country, we checked, but they won't drink it! NO SIR! XD

This is rare, but it happens once or twice a year.

This in particular had me laughing. Weird coincidence, I'm listening to a RPG tavern music compilation at the moment. Makes reading your stories from the inn even more enjoyable :)

One guy, three or four years ago, old, very "prestigious" looking, perfect Florida tan, probably just came off of a golf course and I'm guessing the watch he was wearing cost more than our entire inn; pulls up in a new Mercedes. I knew from the look in his eyes I was screwed. Gets to the room, looks out onto the balcony, turns to me, "What the hell are those!?"

"Dragonflies"

"I don't think so! What kind of place are you running here!?"

Storms out.

Hahaha! To be honest, I think I'd appreciate most of what you counted off today. But I like nature surroundings and animals. Would be very happy about the natural drinking water situation. The no-locking-rooms thing I'm a bit unsure about, because that I'm really not used to. Maybe would grow on me.

We have locks on the doors and offer keys IF people ask for them.

I'm pretty much sold, but if there are lots of freaked-out people there (deer, clean water, trees?!?!) that might be a deal breaker ;)

Joking, sounds like a good place to stay.

For the first time in me being on GOG, there's a GOG connect game that I own on Steam that I didn't already own on GOG. It's Starpoint Gemini 2, a game I got for free when Steam gave it away a year ago and that I would never have bought myself. But one shouldn't look a given horse in the mouth, or should I say: don't look a given spaceship in it's engines.

As someone else on a northern well, I can vouch: they surely do not know what they are missing.

The other stuff you detail... I can believe every bit of it.

Can personally attest to the fact that the well water I have tasted in Michigan was crystal clear and tasty, IF you could get past the fact that it smelled like rotten eggs due to the (healthy) mineral content. And that was well water up there near where you live.
