My computer broke down last week randomly out of the blue and I had no recourse to get it back up and running in short order so I went without a computer until this past Monday morning, approximately a week or so offline more or less. As a direct result of this I decided to reallocate time that normally is spent on the computer every day to being more productive around the house. I use personal video journalling as a tool for coming up with ideas, creativity, introspection and other reasons and I hadn't done one in a week or so so I ended up doing one in my off time which was quite useful in refactoring some priorities and life goals. This lead me to decide to put some projects temporarily on lower priority and shift some pending ones to my current focus among which was sorting out a few years of disorganized paperwork and filing it properly.

While doing this I discovered quite a number of unopened envelopes dating back to 2010. I have had a bad habit of not opening envelopes when I know they're just statements or similar that are not crucial for me to see. I say bad habit because there could be things in them that I really should actually see but don't due to making incorrect assumptions. One particular envelope was a different size than I normally get from one particular sender and something told me I should just open all these envelopes and toss their contents into the pile I was sorting. I did so and found an extremely urgent letter dated Jan 13, 2017 that informed me of a form I needed to fill out and send back by Feb 17, 2017 in order to set some things straight. Without getting into the personal details, the consequences of not sending that form back would have been extremely catastrophic in so many ways I can't count them. I had a massive anxiety attack as it was Saturday and nothing I could do about it until Monday.

On Monday I made a few phone calls and discovered I had some other options and in short, but I needed my computer to work in order to tend to the matter. Computer was totally dead as a doornail, but I turned the power off and on repeatedly about 10 times and magically the machine fired up without issues and I was able to resolve the unexpected matter within a few hours online and receive confirmation that everything was taken care of and I was good to go. As such I was able to avert what would have ended up being probably the biggest disaster in my life.

In conclusion, one simple computer glitch that killed my computer to darkness into a coma for a week while playing Victor Vran ended up triggering a chain of events that brought into my awareness a pending disaster of epic proportions that I was barely able to avert by mere days to which I would never have known about until it was too late had my computer not died.

Moral of the story:
1) Always open every single envelope addressed to you that comes in the mail and at a bare minimum quickly scan the documents even if you are 99.999% certain you already know what it is and don't think it is important.

2) Keep a properly organized filing cabinet and always store any paperwork worth keeping in it in a sensible fashion without exception.


I will never again let an envelope go unopened ever, I'll tell you that for sure!
