What the hell does 'cult classic' mean anyway? Was it designed by the Branch Davidians? Was it a popular title with the Manson Family? Did the People's Temple play it a lot?

Basically you'd call 'cult' a piece of art that is praised by relatively niche audience, it would mostly apply to obscure 'genre' movies, less known bands and music albums. As opposed to works that are mistakenly called 'cult' despite being well regarded and popular among general public, like Kill Bill movies for example.

and FREE - don't think you mentioned that, I just downloaded it and gave it a quick go, seems jolly enough, controls are odd though, I accidentally punched the head off a duck I was supposed to be finding!

From what I remember you can only kill the duck in granny's house after finding it for her. *SPOILER* She wont hesitate to remind you about it later in the game after Dink finds out his mother died in house fire while he was out, collecting acorns for dinner.
