There games I'm playing right now are:

Haegemonia Gold Edition | (from GOG)
- So far enjoying it.
- Plenty of descriptions here on GOG.
- Currently on pause.

Endless Sky | (freeware)
- An open source space trading and combat game.
- Inspired by Escape Velocity games.
- Has good modding capability.
- Free on both Steam and official site.
- Currently on pause.

Starsector | (only from Fractal Softworks)
- An open world space combat action / exploration game.
- Has factions, commerce, player colonization (AI can't), bounties, pirate and faction raids, salvage, planet surveys and more.
- Good graphics, amazing gameplay. Plenty of in-game tool tips, very detailed.
- Combat in space is incredible, with weapons that actually move independently while attacking or defending.
- You can manually control the ships or let the AI do it for you while you watch and issue orders or take control when needed.
- Ship systems and weapon loadouts actually matter in how well you do against another ship types or enemy fleets.
- The story is interesting so far, but it really is a combat focused game. Though you can sneak around the systems if cautious.
- A tutorial stage is available or can be skipped. (not recommended skipping it, very useful)
- Has good modding capability.

- 1st game I bought outside of GOG in years since it's only sold on the FS site at this time. (currently sold for $15 (25% discount))
- I would love to buy it here since it is also DRM free, but that won't even be a consideration until the final release.
- Despite the fact that the game is still in development, most consider it in a complete state.

- It's only been a week since I started playing it, but I'm now completely hooked in it.

- I listed Endless Sky as abandonware, it's not. It's freeware that's still being worked on by the developer with lots of community input and mods.

- Escape Velocity was the abandonware or rather the company is now defunct and can no longer issue codes to activate the game after the install.

Oh and here's a better explanation of Starsector from someone posting back in 2015. Now fast forward to 2021 with lots of mods.

Started Torchlight II with Engineer as a way to clear my head little bit. So far it feels easier than first game on Normal difficulty, but that's not a bad thing today

Considering replaying the SaGa 2 remake. Already loaded it up to see that I still have some clear data that I could use for New Game +; it's now just a matter of deciding what names to give my robots and what items to sell to the pawnbroker before pulling the trigger.

(One rather interesting mechanic is that there's a wandering pawnbroker; you can sell items to them, and then buy them back at a higher price. While that doesn't seem useful, the items sold remain in stock on New Game +, so they can be transferred to the next playthrough this way. However, the pawnbroker has only 8 slots. (Note that there's a place to store items for free, but note that those items don't carry over to New Game +, but it's still useful to clear out limited inventory space.))

(By the way, The Alliance Alive has a similar merchant.)

I just recently finished replaying the first two games and now I'm playing the new one.. holy sh*t, IO is making an incredible job with the series. I'm hyped for the 007 game!

Celeste Classic 2: it's a browser game. First attempt, the game crashes, I lose all progress. Second time, I close the window by mistake/habit. It's going to be a hard stop losing my progress more than catching all those strawberries.
I've also played some of a Ricochet game I had been advised to try, and it's a nice twist on Arkanoid, a bit unpolished but nice arcade.
I don't like that I have to surpass levels in batches to unlock the next levels. I fear that's what might make me stop playing.
I tried playing Bad Mojo again and I didn't have patience with the lose 3 lifes and you have to watch an unskippable ugly movie sequence attitude of the game. Just let me try again - like in Celeste, yes. I'm done with it.
Messing around with Reigns: Her Majesty before falling aspleep, playing casually without trying to reach an end for now.
I'm taking a deep gaming breath before finishing Heretic and playing Disco Elysium next.

I'm a bit angry at Lovecraft's Untold Story, I think our relationship needs a pause. Such an arrogant!

Reminds me of how I felt playing Hollow Knight after having played the Celeste Randomizer. After Celeste, Hollow Knight's death mechanic feels overly punishing. (Also, I wish the game would allow you to revert to your last save instead of losing your geo and having to kill your shadow to get it back.)

EDIT I find funny how I called it Abuse, I mean Agony (1992). The one with the owl.
I'm cheating my way through Abuse for the Amiga. Meaning I'm using state saves. It's nicely drawn ans still pretty to look at today, but the enemy creatures feel fake like props. I'm happy to satisfy my curiousity about a title I never got the chance to play in my Amiga days. Compared to another graphical marvel of the times like Shadow of the Beast, at least the is more to it as gameplay being a decent shoot'em up, but the collision with smaller projectiles is unprecise and unfair.

I did a second run with less dying, and better understanding of the scrolls based magic system (AKA many power-ups available). It's so and so but I would have loved this if I could have found a copy when I was 11.

* The Glass Staircase (itch.io)

Ever since GOG released Silent Hill 4, I've been explore horror games in that 3rd person + fixed camera view. This game from "MMXVIII VAGUE SCENARIO LLC" has hit a nice itch of something new in this format. All the other games I can play in their remake or emulated form but since I've sort of seen or heard about them before they don't scare me much or keep my interest. My wife and I have been playing this and having a blast.

* Shing! (GOG)

I'm feeling this one also. The combat in this beat'em up is very unique to me. I have a large collection of brawlers on the computer and using the left stick to strike and chain attacks is very interesting. My wife and I have gotten through a lot of this game and we're at the end. Will be giving it another spin and like all the rest of the good local MP likes this one, it's going to be part of my HTPC and gaming basement line up for years to come.

* Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (Stadia)

I've enjoyed this game a great deal in SP, CO-OP mode with my wife and online against some of my friends and family. Currently, I'm at the end of the game and will probably finish it by tomorrow. It will be retired soon after. While I do enjoy it, I'm a big fan of the main campaign and all the other stuff just does not interest me. The combat is what I would imagine a DB game to be but that does seem to be that popular.

Death Stranding pc

A game made by Kojima about delivering packages to remote locations in the US. It sounds weird and boring but is actually both engaging and relaxing at the same time. The game is gorgeous and it has great music to boot.

In these trying times with Covid and lockdowns and what have you DS is great for one's peace of mind and the practice of mindfulness. Not a game for everyone but one that is for me.

Sure, I found Hollow Knight too punishing compared how much I liked it and I've given up for now. Blasphemous is also punishing but I cared more to "git gud" at it, so I went through the pain. I wouldn't have cared enough for Agony if I didn't have state saves to make it frustration-free.

Yesterday I started Chicken Police, generously donated by Doc from the biggest giveaway ever created (thanks again!).

A visual novel rather than an adventure game, I thought. First of all, the characters feel very weird and difficult to see as usual. But playing you forgot about this. It's easy to play, you go down rails and the specs are obviously low. The best thing is the voice cast, they did a great job. A decent noir story with a lot of cliches, a good point to the top Discworld Noir, Tex Murphy, Grim Fandango
