It's even more complicated - for example only in human campaign it's mentioned that Garona killed king Llane. That's why I said that playing as orcs is "more canonical" because of the ultimate outcome (orcs' victory). The little canonical details are present in both campaigns.

In second Warcraft there is slightly less confusion but still both campaigns contradict each other. Warcraft 3 along with the expansion is the only one which is easy to follow ;)

Never payed too much attention to the W2 campaigns back then (ie the story), but I'm looking forward to doing so for this playthrough :)
I have to admit though that I kinda lost track of who the 'bad guys' were in the Frozen Throne at some point - Illidian and the Naga threw me off a bit :P

Reinstalled cossacks european wars, gave it one more chance. Now i thought i would keep my profile on this different pc since save games work, but no copying the profile back didn't bring it back in the cossacks game.
So i really wonder how their save system works.
Anyway since i beaten carribean pirates a long time ago i went for the indepence war campaign so had to build three cossacks barracks in the first mission or otherwise it would be impossible, managed to micromanage enough to actually send the enemy away , they said they lost too many men and had retreated. Good since they managed to destroy my palisades and there weres still some enemies left and my army became rather small. Now just need to free the prisoners.
Hopefully it's not a time based mission

I've also been playing The Ultimate Doom for the umpteenth time, because I finally figured out how to make desktop shortcuts for Dosbox games.

Just restarted with a graphics mod, for fun.

Never actually got that far into it but I'm convinced it's my fault, so I'm giving it another try, for the 12,546th time. :P

Frostpunk.

I only have a couple of hours, but so far I love the game. It´s been a long time since I played games like this, and it feels like rediscovering old love.

I would say the story in Warcraft 2 is pretty well told. It's not very original or engaging but it gives you a good amount of information where you are and why the task you got is so important. You are fighting a few battles in the whole war but you learn why they are so crucial. So yeah, I encourage you to follow it.


The answer is: all of them ;) Sure, Arthas is probably the worst but both prince Kael'thas and Maiev Shadowsong have a good share of terrible deeds. Sure, they have a good justification why they did what they did but actually Arthas can claim it as well ;)

Just finished W1 so now I can look forward into diving into W2 story after a short break :)

And the only truly good guy in the entire W3 is Rexxar ;) (and Jaina perhaps)

What's wrong with Thrall, Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage? Sure, they are not exactly Noble Peace Prize laureates but in general they can be considered as good guys. Even decisions that eventually didn't turn out that good had been made with good intent.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Started playing Alien Logic and it's pretty good. Logged about 3.5 hrs in the game so far.
Restarted from the near beginning because you can wander into a hostile NPC in the starting city that will massively damage you, and since a full 100% Heal costs 350% of your starting money in-game,,,you can quickly get trapped in a cycle of diminishing returns that keeps you constantly losing money unless you get really lucky in-combat forever or figure out how to correctly bio-shape stuff with 1-use items extremely fast.

If you manage to avoid that hostile NPC, which the game kind of hints about before you enter the starting city but gives incorrect directions as to where it exists/what area of town to avoid....the game is good.
Worse case, if you do die or get massively damaged by that NPC, restarting the game and getting back to that same spot takes maybe 8 minutes if you fast-forward through dialogue.

Esih, what a glaring omission on my part, of course Thrall is also a good guy!

Malfurion? He locked up is brother for, what, 10000 years? And as for Tyrande, she set that criminal free! ;)

Malfurion decision was actually a right one so I don't see any reason to stop thinking about him as a good guy. Turande clearly made a bad call but as I said before - with good intent. So I still think about her as a good person. For example Maiev blatantly lied to Malfurion about Tyrande fate to trick him which is why I cannot call her a good person (among other reasons).

So yeah, I definitely consider Malfurion as a good person and while Tyrande is a bit more tricky (she killed Illidan guardians after all) I still think she is pretty good but also quite naive.
