I have UT2004 on Gog and UT3 on Steam but can't choose between them .

As far as i know both of them have everything mentioned above at almost equal quality.Bots have more advanced AI in UT3 tho.To be honest i would go for UT2004 as it is just a fantastic game which built upon the forgotten UT2003.The gameplay, graphics, sound and atmosphere just scream epicness.UT3 is no slack either.Deffinitely looks better although i don't like the visuals and animations for some reason(probably my rose-tinted glasses) ;).Both are great in their own way.Cheers

"Are you playing that stupid game again?!" My dad seeing me play UT2004 yet again. It runs on my parents' weak computers and can be played in short bursts, perfect for a quick break. Of course, the bots are too weak for me by now and I seldom lose unless I am too tired. Never tried UT3 as it is not here on GOG, clearly an oversight.

Afaik the UT games have numerous difficulty options and 'godlike' is almost impossible. Are you telling us that those bots are no problem for you?

That was my thought exactly.
Oh, I guess I must have missed some settings somewhere... I would love to have a bit more challenge. Off to look more thoroughly at the settings.

...and back. Cannot find any more difficulty settings to turn up :-(

I think in UT you could set the speed to 200%. But I'm only playing Q3 Arena nowadays.
Hmmm, since you already have both, why don't you play both and see what you like the most? Personally i like the older Unreal Tournament (GOTY) and then 2004; i haven't had the chance to play UT3 though.
Thanks for the replies .

In my opinion the worst in the series but still a great game. Frankly the biggest problem was the boring style (which was more like the grey and "mature" Gears of War than the wacky and colorful UT 2004) and the removal of the double jump which which made the game a lot less fun and dynamic. The feeling of the guns also just wasn't as satisfying as in the earlier ones. I was very let down when I played it on release but I gave it another try a few years later and enjoyed the heck out of the campaign, didn't play it much in multiplayer, though (instantly got my ass handed to me whenever I tried it online while I generally did well in UT 2004).

It also sucks that the modding community for that one never quite took off, as far as I can tell, while there was a mindblowing amount of amazing user-generated content for UT and UT2003/2004. Not sure if it's because the game's fanbase was too small or because modding it was too hard or something.

I do think UT GOTY is smoother and I like the bots overall better.

Godlike is nothing when you learn the way they act, I started playing ut in 2000 and still rocking it today on ut3 18 years later. it's all about the map and knowing where everything is, it makes it much more easier once you know how the bots play.

but play 2 steps bellow godlike and I am sure within months you can hit godlike.
