Feel free to use this cover image for a second version if you want to. =)

Nice, thanks!
Hi @Mobeeuz when you have some time, could you please make the cover for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One? Thanks!
high rated
I had some time this week and used it to upload a near-mirror of the archived version of the GOG Covers website. You can find this reuploaded version at: https://ludiantiqui.com/GOGcovers/index.html.

I also spent a lot of time changing the filing system from its original hexadecimal form to folders based on the first letter of each game title (excluding the word The). It's certain there are a few broken links from the change but you can search through all of the uploaded images at https://ludiantiqui.com/GOGcovers/images/.

Unfortunately the archived version is from April so there are definitely some missing covers but I'll try and get to adding them and fixing any broken links soon™.

Great covers as usual :)
Would you tell me, what tool you use to make these irregular transparent image borders? I´m trying to do that in Paint.net, in order to make more seamless transitions between images, but can´t find a satisfying solution. Maybe I´m missing a specific tool.

I'm not too familiar with Paint.Net. You want to use a mask (alpha channel), then paint the mask white/black depending on what parts you want visible using gradients unless you are going for a jaggy look. Some very quick Google-fu says there is an Alpha Mask or Paste Alpha plugin for Paint.Net (depends on version of Paint) that appears to do the same thing. For some more in-depth tuts, check out YouTube now that you know what to look for...

I am not familiar with Paint.net either but I can suggest second easy way to do similar if you can create transparent layers in paint.net?? The layer would also need an opacity adjustment as well. Other than the opacity reduction you could also try layer filter settings on the transparent layer if they are available??? Having never used Paint.net I can't be more specific. =(

Create the transparent layer then get a large (300px+) feathered brush and paint the area you want the transition with white. After that, with the opacity setting for the transparent layer reduce the opacity of the layer until you get the desired affect. You can than use the large feathered paint brush to extend the affect or a large feathered eraser brush to remove the affect where needed. All of this is done on the transparent layer. When the affect suits you move it down in the layers to just above the actual cover image if you have not already.

You can delete or deactivate the transparent layer as needed without damage to the original image. If these functions are not available in Paint.net ignore this suggestion. =) See attached example. The layer opacity was reduced to 26% so the affect could be reduced further.

Thank you both for the tips, Mobeeuz and Stuff. I checked some youtube videos, but somehow I can´t find exactly what I´m looking for.
I attached a snippet of your cover, that shows the image border, I´m curious about. I´d like to create a similar technique, in order to embed one image into another with different kinds of transitions.
Sorry, can´t explain it better, since my English reaches its limits when it comes to technical terms :)

Awesome! Simple and effective. Thank you.

So the most straight forward tutorial I found is for Photoshop, but the principles are exactly the same (Much of it is Photoshop specific and more involved than you really need, so just take away what clicks for you). You add a layer mask to one of the photos you want to combine. A white mask shows the image, while black hides it. You then paint on the mask (not the image) either white to expose, or black to hide what you do and don't want to see. Since you are not touching the actual image, you can fix or change whatever you like by repainting the mask as you need.

In the above case I used a very jagged brush and added incremental jitter (randomizes size and position of brush slightly to add variation). I positioned one image where I wanted it roughly on top of the other, and then painted the layer mask to suit the background.

Every separate part of an image should be a separate layer, not hard pasted onto the image so you can still manipulate it. Probably goes without saying, but just in case ;)

Thanks, that helps a lot. I found out that paint.net does not come with layer masks and different brushes. I need to download separate plug-ins for that. Now it´s time to experiment a bit.
