Will it be possible to transfer games from steam to GoG? I have no mans sky on steam but would prefer the gog drm free approach, and would like to stop using steam, if at all possible. Is this option being considered or just for certain games?

I realise that you're just a delivery platform in essence,but something like this could go a long way into slicing steam profits.

no, it is actully the other way around. if you transfer your game from steam to gOg, then steam gets the monies, while gOg not only does not get a cent, but need to foot the bill of hosting it, manage it and do support. so it is a net loss for gOg, while steam profits

Occasionally, but very rarely, "GOG Connect" allows you to do this. But no, in your case that isn't possible.

You could use both Steam and GOG.

While what amok says is entirely correct, I think another way of seeing it could be good;

Because of steams DRM, they lock you into their platform and basically holds you hostage, so you don't even think about trying to migrate elsewhere.
However, with GOG, you can download and store your DRM-free backup offline installers and use any other store at the same time.

All in all, I think it's good that you're trying to get away from steam, but don't let insidious tactics like the above mentioned of theirs, lull you into staying with them.

that has nothing to with "slicing steam profits", so not sure how it is "another way of seeing it", as this was the only point I was referring to. Yes, it is better for the customer, but gOg is losing out on the deal

Amok isn't correct for several reasons, which I won't go into here. Thank you for the responses.

Ish. GOG still benefits from having a user be primarily in a GOG eco system.
isn't the whole point of GOG and DRM-free that there's no ecosystem, no vendor lock, and nobody is forcing you to depend on a store to play games you bought earlier?

no, I am still correct due to several conterarguments to your reasons, but I will no go into them here

Congrats on leaving Steam. If more gamers had your integrity, we could break Steam's stranglehold on distribution of some games.
