Hesusio: I remember back in 2010-2011, the forum was a really cool, and laid back place to be, especially for a gaming forum. There was as little of a mod presence as there is nowadays, and that was fine because their services were only very rarely ever needed. I can only imagine the huge changes that must've have taken place in the years after, for it to reach the point of being dominated by all of this pearl clutching and general poo flinging over something as insignificant as a single Tweet. I mean, really now, it's good to be socially conscious, don't get me wrong. But people being offended on Twitter doesn't really strike me as an especially important issue, to be honest.
It seems to be more reflective of society at large than GOG.

fortune_p_dawg: ah the times of olde
Now we seemingly have politics getting into everything and partisanship on the rise. And Brlumpf's election accelerating the process. (I actually don't mind Grumpf policy-wise but I can see how it drove some people of all political persuasions nutty) :P

The only way to handle it is to ignore the outrage mob. They shouldn't have apologized.

politics always gets into everything: that's kind of the point of politics. Government governs, and if government expands, it needs something to stick it's claws into, and certain individuals who want power have no problem suggesting places for the government to stick their claws into. With Trump winning, it shows that there is a tidal shift compared to the past in terms of which way the non-political swing. This threatens power bases, so naturally they will get progressively worse in their attempts to get the wind blowing in their direction again.

Pheace: Doxxing, absolutely bad. But doesn't this just mean there's a few bad apples in there?
We are talking about forum where you can be banned just by having different opinion. Or by openly saying that you will still buy Cyberpunk 2077.

You don't agree with Hivemind, you are terminated

From what I've read that's if you have an opinion of intolerance, then yes, you'll be banned. If there's other examples I'm not (yet) aware of those.

The Cyberpunk thing seems harsh, though I do remember seeing mention that talk about some games was banned because of controversy behind them. Is Cyberpunk among them?

Nah, the forums genuinely didn't obsess over trivial bullshit back then. Society at large, not so much.

A reeeeesetera mod is telling people to pirate Cyberpunk 2077.

People have been banned there just for saying they didn't see a problem with the tweet. That isn't intolerance.

Without context that post says literally anything you want it to

Yeah... not without some more context. I've seen plenty of conversations where that's a logical response without implying for people to pirate games

This, a thousand times this.
