mrkgnao: For all other games, this pretty nice feature (which differentiates between game and DLC installers, as well as game and DLC goodies) has been there since day one of the NAS.
I know, what I meant is that I had not check if TW3 was the only game that had its DLC travelling around on the game details page.
Regarding the German MDK making of booklet I'd like to say that the pdf I scanned and gave to Judas had the pdf extension. I cannot say what happened there. On a sidenote I am happy that I still managed to scan anything because after all those people pushing me to a new PC running Win7 only (no XP possible anymore on this PC) I found out that my scanner does not work with Win7 and no newer drivers were available. So I installed Virtualbox and installed XP and the scanner here. I had not much hope but as you can see it worked so I can scan other manuals in the future if they are needed from GOG. Now I have a 10GB big scanner driver - that's something not everybody has :)

Reminds me when my dad acquired an old scanner from a friend and it had same problem, not compatible with Windows Vista or higher. Ended up setting XP in VMWare player for him.

Maybe future drivers will deliver their needed VM with the package ;)
According to mrkgnao the last official Blackguards update was this

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_what_did_just_update_thread/post8115

So Blackguards should have 5.3 GB now and it has in the last version I backuped and in the actual GOG version. However the GOG version of this and the DLC is 1.6 (GOG-11 = 2.2.0.11) and my backuped version is 2.2.0.10 so I was wondering (since the last official Daedalic Patch for GOG was ver. 1.5 which was identical to the retail patch 1.6 to make confusion complete) if GOG has updated the game without any notification. Some may know that I am waiting for this for quite some time. Maybe mrkgnao can tell?

Stories like these always make me happy that I can get away with doing all my productivity stuff on Linux.

Drivers for things like scanners, printers, and many other types of USB, parallel, or serial devices are purely userland and, even for things requiring specific kernel drivers, the official policy is "Drivers are part of the kernel; You must update them to match any changes you make", and the main way ancient drivers get retired is by noticing that they were broken for months and months and nobody noticed or complained, therefore, nobody must be using them anymore.

(Plus, if I ever did need to run an old kernel, Linux has great support for being either a paravirtualization host or guest, so I should be able to install something along the lines of the "dCore" version of Tiny Core Linux (10MB, Debian-compatible) plus a CUPS network print or XSANE network scan server in a VM and then ask the host OS to exclusively delegate the device in question via the IOMMU.)

Unless you know enough about programming to patch them for compatibility and build a new OSX binary. When Frozenbyte released the sources under a non-commercial license in the wake of one of the Humble Bundles, they didn't limit access to Humble Bundle buyers.

[Got a "false positive" flag for MDK a few hours ago, for nothing has changed since yesterday, including the faulty "Making of MDK booklet (German)".]
As I received a generic answer from the gog.com support, I'd like to ask the update focused participants of this forum for advice. If I install a game I make sure it is fully patched. If problems occur I check online for corresponding solutions. I think one cannot expect to make an inquiry about open or newly introduced bugs.

My problem I quote below is an example:

"Dear Sir or Madam, I downloaded and played Far Cry 2(through). This game is by far the buggiest game (phone glitch, employer outside of building, no next quest/employer [game breaking], mission-terminating random NPC behavior) I ever played (alpha versions not counted). I played the latest gog.com version at that time which has the Jackal Tapes glitch, as I found out later. "[...] all tapes after #10 (Stealing Boots) would play the same thing. The glitch seems to only affect tapes gathered in the southern map, whereas the northern tapes would be fine.". Could you please warn future players or offer an earlier revision so that one can decided between the latest version (mostly about multiplayer fixes) or earlier version (without Jackal Tapes glitch). I am primarily interested in stories. Far Cry 2 has a good start and loses its thread quite fast. The Jackal Tapes are the only continuous element, even though the "treasure hunt" is mindless and time consuming. Knowing I could have avoided the glitch with sufficient knowledge made me sad. Yours sincerely [...]"

"Hello, Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we are not able to fix this issue, since GOG is not the game developer, but Ubisoft Monteral is. If you wish to solve those issues, please contact them directly: https://support.ubi.com/en-US/ Regards, [...] Customer Support Representative GOG.com"

I'd like to have solution for the future. I always check the installation folder of a game for readme.txt, manual.pdf, settings.ini and stuff like that. But I presume most gamers don't do that. I understand that existing bugs listed on the game page would not increase the sale. So maybe a note on the game page after buying or a note during the installation or text in the library (below the installer files) would do the trick.

P.S. I know about the gog.com Far Cry 2 Forum. If you dive into the problems discussed there, you won't have time to play the game at all. The Jackal Tape problem is not covered as far as I could see.

I'm a bit puzzled - did GOG Support just tell you that they do not contact devs about issues brought to their attention? And that if anything is to be fixed by the devs it's up to the users to get the devs to act? Do i read this correctly?

Yes, that's what it means. I had exactly the same experience with GOG support.

Your perception is right. The only edited (and marked) change is the removal of the correspondent author.

I hope to not waste my time on another >well-known< broken game!
