LynetteC: Fair point, but with classic games there's always the technical issues of getting them operational on newer systems.

If GOG announce that they've got, say for example the original version of Grim Fandango (wishful thinking on my part) to release on X date and then find that the dual processor issue is more difficult to resolve than they anticipated so prevents them from releasing it on time, imagine how pissed off people are going to be. So they say nothing, make sure it's working first and rather than hold it back for a week or two to make a pre-release announcement, they just drop it on us all ready to install and play.

We know these techincal glitches happen to prevent releases from the Enigmatic Hint thread. That's just a game the members play but imagine if it were a public announcement on the website. GOG's reputation would take a hit with every delayed release.
I could see that being an issue, but if so then that means GOG is really not handling game releases all that well honestly. Unless these were like extreme cases with some last minute discoveries that doesn't happen that often.

GOG is a big company, and if there working on these games right up to release that really doesn't make sense. You would think they have planned these releases out, working on them/ testing them and holding them for a month or two... slowly releasing completed games each week.

Big companies don't make last minute decisions, so if GOG is doing that... then they really shouldn't be. Just my view on that.

But is GOG really a BIG company?

We know they have a worldwide customer base so in that aspect they are, but how many staff does GOG actually have (not counting the CDPR team who are obviously not involved in the day to day running of the website/releasing classic games)? How does it compare with Steam?

They obviously have schedules to release games as they are hinted at in the Enigmatic Hint thread in the week. prior to release. Now, I don't visit that thread very often but I've seen at least two hints that I can recall where they have been replaced as the game had been delayed - I think the last one may have been Gex but I may be wrong.

I'd say there pretty big, there considered the second biggest digital storefront... the get millions of hits each month on the site. They have an office in Poland, and now one in LA, USA.

IF by chance a game did get delayed... then it's get delayed... if there up front about that, even if they announced it coming, I really don't see the issue. Games get delayed all the time, it's nothing where not use too.
