** DISCLAIMER: No free games here, it's all a joke **

The Spring Sale do not feature XP bonuses, and some users expressed a certain discontent with this.

So, let's just make a XP bonus system ourselves:

- Every vowel in the title of a bought game gives 10 XP.
- Games bought expecially for gifting grants you double XP.
- Playing the bought game tripples the XP.
- Not having bought any games at the end of the sales grants an alternative XP score: Roll two dices, multiply them and multiply the result by 10.

SCORE:

20 XP: You unlocked some smileys! (Smileys here!)
50 XP: You unlocked a free movie! The Art of Playing
100 XP: You unlocked a free game! Bio Menace
300 XP: You unlocked a song on youtube! Sort sol - Let your fingers do the walking
500 XP: You unlocked a 1947 documentary! Modern Business Machines for Writing, Duplicating, and Recording (the .mpg version is best)
Hehe I lack that ;)

I guess I will buy nothing so that gives me 120 XP (rolled a 2 & 6).
Soooo, can I have this Bio Menace? Keep the change of 20 XP and buy GOG-Bear some decent food, you know, pizza, fries, cola and all this stuff bears usually eating.

No XP gives me Insomnia
Sorry to actually be serious in the joke topic, but, can someone tell me how the XP system here works? I hadn't heard of this before. I recently just re-discovered this site and began purchasing games, now that I finally have a laptop made in the past decade.
I've installed the game and now my horse is always on the roof. Help, I use windows 10.

A few big sales in the past had an XP progress bar, that you could fill up by spending money here during the sale and by doing some activities like visiting the site every day, put games on wishlist, etc. Depending on how much XP you gathered you could unlock up to three games to get for free. These were specific games - you could not choose. And they unlocked in a specific order. If you did not have them on your account you could redeem them and they were added directly to your account. If you already had them, you would get a giftcode to pass on to someone.

The XP is sale specific. It always starts at 0, and you can usually get points for checking in every day, sharing on FB or twitter, checking out Galaxy's page, wishlisting a large amount of games, and of course, by buying games. There are XP threshholds that allow for rewards when you cross them (a specific free game or DLC). And there's a leader board.

That's typically how it works, turning shopping for games into a game itself.
Oh, so it is just for sales, then?

I see. A couple of games were available free to me (such as Savage Empire) the other day when I was looking, didn't know if it was something that was always in effect.

Thank you!
Windows XP users will get additional bonus xp because of the name ;).Cheers

GOG has a pretty good slate of free games. If you search by price you can get them all, guilt free, money free, and DRM-free.

These titles (and these videos) are indefinitely free (with the exception of a few upcoming games -- those with the "Soon" icon -- that don't have a price set in the system, so the search interprets that as them being free...which they won't be). At this point, though, half of the free "games" are actually demos of, or DLC for, paid games. But there's still some decent stuff in there. :)
