timmy010: some people have huge amounts of rep. how is that even possible?
They've been posting for ages and never got targeted by the derepping. You usually see it in people who keep out of political discussions and don't go after scammers.
timmy010: i was just wondering, what does reputation points mean and what are the consequences of having them in the negative? i had a bunch of games on gog and steam and blizzard that i offered up on the gog trading platform, did some good trades and even gave a copy of a really good triple A game over at a community giveaway here on gog. i was "attacked" by scammers under various aliases and got scammed too. naturally i stopped trading and gave them to reputable people here on gog to gift to other people. my rep was +60 at the time. i used to log into gog for my games and occasionally visited the forums to see what was happening but didn't actually participate for several months. day by day, i saw my rep take a hit well into the negatives. now there are several posts that have been rejected, even if some aren't even websites. so shhould i be concerned about what is happening? should i contact support? i'm confused as to what i should do next.
1. Rep means nothing. It was originally intended as a measure of how "active" a user is, but it's not even good for that anymore.
2. There's no consequences of a negative rep other than not being able to post links (a feature put in place with the intention of preventing spam). There's an easy way of getting around it, just a bit of a bother.
3. The aforementioned scammers probably derepped you. NES and Wakalo have admitted to as much before, it apparently makes them feel powerful or something.
4. Rejected? You mean it wouldn't post? That typically happens if the forum doesn't like the formatting.
5. Nah, don't be concerned. So long as the community likes you, you're fine. There's nothing you need to do next but be a decent guy. Contacting support over it is a waste of time, as they're already well aware of the situation and have been for years. They won't do anything about it.
