pH7: My bad then - I thought the opposition I faced when saying that I didn't approve of it meant that (some) people kind of got upset at the thought of not being able to continue down that road.
----------------------
Minor to you, anyway. Not so minor to me. Obviously.
----------------------
I don't really care what happens - if I get into a shit-storm over this, then it's very clear to me that I don't belong here. In that case it's no longer a "big" deal to me - it's only a "big" deal to me if I'm to call this place "home".
----------------------
I'd say childish instead of rude, but yes. What I was trying to highlight was that the ever increasing amount of Steam-related stuff (to pick one thing) isn't because of a general consensus that this is where we as a community want to go, it is the result of people just taking that liberty and then most people just being ok with it. Starting a "trolling/bashing trend" is a lot harder to "defend" of course, but it's not that hard to get the majority on board with it - just look at the Steam forums. It's by far easier to get people to "lower" themselves. If the majority rules regardless, then there's not much of a difference.
---------------------------------
Not sure what you mean by "self entitled", though. I'm part of this community even if at odds with it, hence I ought to be entitled to the same as everyone else, right? Even if you disagree with me? I've probably misinderstood you there, though.
---------------------------------
As for letting the issue drop.. Name one thing that's been discussed on these forums where everyone have simply dropped it after things "not going their way". According to your reasoning, there shouldn't be any repeat discussions here at all. I'm curious as to why I'm not allowed to keep beating a dead horse when everyone else is.
--------------------------------
I really don't care how goggers look at me. If I did I'd try getting brown points instead of speaking my mind. Are you replying to me in a fashion designed to make other goggers look at you as favourable as possible, or are you speaking your mind back at me?
-------------------------------
You don't have to tell me anything, really. You may not mean it that way, but it sounds like you're speaking on behalf of the "GOG community". While I'm (generally speaking) interested in hearing your (and others) opinions on this matter, it's not like I'm viewing you as an authority on the subject and intend to just go with whatever you say. Sorry if that comes out a bit rude, but there really isn't any difference between you and me here - we're both equally small parts of this community.
------------------------------
I thought "the thread that doesn't exist" (or whatever) aka "Steamgifts.com - GOG Gifting Club V2" was dedicated to exactly that. It seems to require invitation or something, though - don't know as I've never bothered with it.
If that ever happened we'd just make a Steam gifting thread, so I don't think many were upset in that manner as a result of your posts here. :)
----------------------------
Minor as in minor in the grand scheme of things.....not minor as in unimportant to anyone/etc. ;)
----------------------------
You should care, though......you obviously like some things here and at least some of the people here, so why not try to maintain your "tenure" here if only to stay close to those things? (I also think you're pretty fun to have around sometimes, btw, and don't want to see you go.)
In the end it's your call if those things are worth it or not(Worth it enough to leave your issues at the forum door/stay on at the forums in general, I mean.), though.
--------------------------------
But isn't that how trends happen/stuff changes&evolves on a forum? One person or a few people go in one direction and the rest either accept it and encourage it's growth/acceptance on the forum in question or they do their best to oppose it and get it removed from the forum altogether or diminish it's presence there(if possible). Forums aren't organized democracies......we all don't vote on every decision at every moment of every day.
Imagine if that was the case...it'd probably take forever to get things done or make any sort of change, and we'd have people on both sides arguing/debating(Maybe civil, maybe not.) back and forth all day long. I don't know if that'd be more good or bad than how things work now.
------------------------------------------
Self entitled as in you(in some of your posts here) seemed to be speaking as if your opinions/wants/needs for how things on the forums should work should carry more weight than others for some reason.
(Btw i'm not saying that I know that was how you felt......it just seemed that way to me when I read some of what you wrote.)
------------------------------------------
I never said you weren't allowed to do anything here(At least I don't think I did.)......I merely gave advice. That's all.
-----------------------------------------
The latter....I often speak my mind here, and sometimes it comes off to some as if i'm trying to troll someone or make myself look better than others. I promise you that this isn't the case in this instance, though.
(Also kudos for being willing to speak your mind despite what others think....I often do this as well and respect those that hold this ideal.)
--------------------
I wasn't trying to speak on GOG's behalf(Or the behalf of the community.) I also wasn't trying to force you to do anything you didn't/don't want to do. I was merely trying to give my take on the matter and give you some advice, is all.
Also no, you don't have to take my advice or the advice of anyone here....it might help you in the long run(Here, in life, etc.) if you were more open to taking other people's suggestions instead of pushing them aside so quickly, though.
-----------------------
That thread is for Steam contests, not gifting non-GOG games to people directly.
