(Putting the message in a bottle of rum didn't sound like a good idea - the ink would run and make the code unreadable - so I emptied it first. And then I remembered that I don't like rum. Well, 50/50 with white and brown rum isn't so bad, if the quality's high, or better yet, a (large) drop of Stroh rum in a cup of hot chocolate after a cold day out.. mmmh..)

(Not sure how international that saying is - your better half is traditional your spouse. However, we're not married, and she's far more than a girlfriend, so instead of 'lying' and referring to her as my wife, I prefer 'my better half' - or 'min bedre halvdel' in norwegian..)

No, don't really see the point in getting married (to anyone). The way I see it, marriage is made up of two distinct parts - the religious/cultural aspect, and the legal aspect. I'm an atheist with questionable moral so the first one's not something I'm concerned about, and the second one can easily be replaced by making a will and taking out some insurance. We have children together, and that's "the new marriage" in Norway, apparently. The other aspects like love, care, respect, faithfulness etc are the same regardless of what any piece of paper might say or not say.

Proposing is out of the question - she knows how I feel about marriage and would either not believe me, or make it her life's mission to force me to go through with my promise =P (Besides, I try to avoid making any promises that I'm not 99,9% sure I'll be able to keep, barring the end of the world.)
