LeonardoCornejo: Barely related to gamergate, but there is another subculture that is facing a "X is Y" season. This subculture was once targeted by no other than Fox News and has a lower social approval than gamers. I am talking about bronies. Early this year BuzzFeed launched a hitpiece about them (us in my case) regarding the pornographic content within the fandom.
And a few days ago, this guy Steve Harvey made an interview ridiculing us, obviously he picked a rather silly guy and unfairly treated him like a total freak.
Now, it is too much of a coincidence that both showed up in such a short time span. If I may say, I think they are trying to make a "bronies are creeps" narrative, just like they pulled the "gamers are dead" narrative in an attempt to make gamers cave in. The bad news is that bronies are weaker in many ways to gamers and might be successfully shamed into submission.
I will leave the video for you to watch.
https://youtu.be/SuGbeTAtaEQ Shadowstalker16: That video is disgusting. Sad to see so many people preach for an open accepting society yet there are shows like these that invite people on to be laughed at like circus freaks. Its just the guys on TV finding a group that is OK to shame and making these cringy shows covering them. I like how they invited a psychologist along as well. As if liking a TV show is a mental disorder now. If anyone tries to shame me about what media I like, I'd ask them where their non-prejudiced, accepting, tolerant mindset suddenly disappeared to.
I don't think they're colluding to release pieces on bronies, but I do think they're exploiting niche subcultures to shame them and profit off of it.
Also, psychology as a science is rapidly losing credibility to me. Maybe Scientology had a point.
Thunderstone: The users on that site were religious about archiving everything; I do not doubt that the kiwi farms will be back under new management. It was not so much a harassment forum as it was a website for gossiping about internet nobodies. While raids and harassing people were not officially condoned by the management but the extent and level of detail these people could find on others got really creepy. The users were not above playing with their "lolcows." I am not surprised that they finally pissed off the wrong people.
Shadowstalker16: Yeah it was a ''gossip'' site on paper and as per the management, but then again so was Gawker. Don't forget that they had threads counting days from when the last time one of their ''lolcows'' said they were going to kill themselves. Also they regularly doxxed people. The owner can probably sell the site someone worse, and it will probably continue under the new sick fuck's management. But you are correct in that the site isn't down for good. I've read some of it and they're very determined people.
The true SJW nature. They claim to support acceptance and freedom until it is something they can't profit with. Then they will treat you like a circus freak. I will keep an eye on the situation, just in case it turns out to be another bullying campaign. You know what is the ugliest part? Bronies actually believed it would be a good thing, they believed they would finally get positive attention, only to be humiliated on TV and treated as if they were insane by a charlatan with a degree.
