Sorry for not replying earlier. My connection to GOG was unstable yesterday (well, MORE unstable than usual, that is).

To GR:
Personally I find that joke OK, if not more funny :) but if my word won’t be interpreted with bad intents by anyone-since HK issue is somewhat more sensitive than ever-I’d actually like to share some thoughts about this for anyone interested:
1. First of all, what I am gonna say will just be the perspective from an average China mainlander. People can have different perspectives, and what I say is probably not the whole truth, so, it’s just for you who are interested in how China mainlanders view this topic;
2. As you probably have noticed, when there’s a topic related to Hong Kong, or Taiwan, “Chinese” tend to describe themselves as “mainlanders” so as to show that Hong Kong and Taiwan both belong to China. Remember, I’m just describing how “Chinese” think about this topic, not to start a fight or something. Besides, personally, I’m quite open about these issues, though I figure it’s no harm to mention it since most mainlanders (so as people from Hong Kong and Taiwan) do care more about these things.
3. Now here’s some more positive part, hopefully :) I think that no people should be judged by their nationalities alone. And being a mainlander or HK resident doesn’t automatically makes one dislike the other, it all depends (I understand that as a joke you can’t go into so much details or it’d be not so funny anymore. This is just said to make my point more clear:) And personally, I wish that when there is news or reports or whatever influences that wants to make you hate or contempt someone else, everyone would think and feel more individually, instead of just think or feel the way they want you to.
4. Finally, in respect of the qualification, I agree with you. People in Hong Kong also suffer from this pandemic, so personally I see no problem accepting Hong Kong entries.

To Korotan:
1. About the qualification of entries, first, as I mentioned, I’m not so sure if we should put a restriction about their activities here, but maybe we can try and see. Just put the restriction there, and if it doesn’t work, then cancel it; second, theoretically, I think it’s not unfair if entries from Wuhan or Hubei province (where Wuhan city belongs to) get higher priorities, since they do have much much more dire situation than any other places (the city can look like it’s dead from an outdoor view). But admittedly, it’s not so easy to tell if a user actually lives there, so...but, maybe we can combine this with the next point:
2. About the 3rd requirement, how about ask them to describe the situation they are in, or the stupid things they do at home to stay positive? ;) IMO topics like these seem natural to people under this situation, and can be more varied so that people can’t easily copy & paste some good words if they want to fake. Maybe like “where do you live? What’s the situation there? Any funny or serious things recently?”
3. As for the translation issue, while I’m not really so confident in translating back and forth, I’d like to try to translate them so that you guys may decide for yourselves who would get the gifts, as long as it’s not too much or too hard for me ;)
4. Just notice GR’s suggestion about filtering people by their registration date. Smart!

I may have left out something, since writing in English takes long time for me and I sometimes forget what I planned to say during the process. So please remind me if I do, thank you :)

And also sorry for not quoting properly, for I’m never sure how to quote multiple pieces effectively in one post. Or is that I just need to quote and reply several times and let the system merge them for me?

That's ok.....it likely happens to all of us from time to time. :)

Thank you, but to be honest I only copied that off of others who used such in their contests before...it IS a good idea for some contest sometimes, though.

Ok, not a problem. :)

I am totally with you prioritizing from Wuhan, problem would be how to validate, it is not just talk. But yeah in the it is only trust that they will not use goodwill and yeah I think the Giveaway is to small for activity so I will restrict it to only registered on GoG since January 2020 or earlier.

Other Offtopicthing, why is GR getting all the Time downvoted here despite giving more or less good comments about the topic?

I was wondering about the same thing. It seems it’s independent of what he posts, but just against whatever he posts.

From what he told me per DM it seems he earlier made some statement on GoG that angered some users so extrem like for example an exxageration, telling an abording enemy, that they kill not live because for this it would need to be live and not just a mass of materia (please do not think he said that, it is just my example) that they begin to stalk him and downrate him bots whereever they can because they want that a Zigeuner like him (Zigeuner is old egyptian and means untouchable so other know as a persona non grata) should not dare and try good people like us that are nice and have good reputation to corrupt so that we get spoiled(?) like him.
Mayby I will now get targeted too but...well I just give his version there. I would like to hear other side too and I would love to make a mediation thread trying at least give both sides an option to say something and maby, only mayby some agreement can be sorted.

If you do a bit of head's up: Others tried that as well**, and got low rated for their efforts in such threads, and sometimes get low rated as of now because of that.

You can still try if you want, though, but know that you might get some flack from a few here(mostly in the form of low ratings) if you do so. Also thanks for trying to help/etc. :)

(**=Posting threads about/supporting me or asking why people in general get low rated)

Korotan: *snip*
Thanks for telling me :)
I would suggest just leave it be though, at least for now. From my personal experience, making peace or solving quarrels is very difficult, and even harder on the internet. I’ve tried to make peace between others, both in real life and on the internet, but the attempts seldom ended well. Without appropriate attitudes from both sides, or proper words, or a wise judge, attempts to make peace can end up escalating the conflict instead.
IMO, for now, what we can do is not to judge a member solely by their rep.
Your welcome and I have good news, Doc is on board too and donated games where my knees get weak and I feel like Charlie meeting Chelseas friend Gale. I will wait until start of March when GR getting his donation and then I will start the Giveaway.

You could also(as I suggested) start it whenever and just put down one of the prizes as 5 US dollar(plus or minus some loose change) store credit, and you can then award such whenever all the donors have gotten their ducks in a row/etc.

Sound good?

(That way you could start the contest asap and get it out to more people while they need the gift of game the most. :))
Much love to China! <3

Hang tightly in there, bros!

Excellent idea, congrats to the OP!

If I may, I'd like to donate a few games.

Of course you may, it is very much appreciated. So that people can donate games is another reason I opened this thread.

Um, not to sound like a nag or anything, but....did you read post 24 yet? If so, your reply would be? :)

Yeah I read now and I think I would still rather wait because then there can mayby another person that want to donate too. And because I still did not made second purchase.

Sounds good, then. :)

Also an aside: Not to be too much of a grammar stickler, but it's not "mayby", it's "maybe". :D
