What's a "TD"?

Tower defense games. In these you deploy buildings or turrets to avoid the enemy from attacking some important tower that is basically your life, i.e. if the enemy destroys it, the game is over.
Or the troop could be just you. Essentially, defend the tower.
At least that's my definition of it.

It's not a genre I particularly enjoy, but the ones I have heard repeatedly being recommended are:
- Defender's Quest (this one I rather liked myself)
- Kingdom Rush series (played only the first one)
- GemCraft - Frostborn Wrath (very hardcore)

X-Morph: Defense is one of the best I've played. It combines TD with shoot'em ups and I greatly enjoyed it. Also currently in the giveaway.
