bjgamer: Thank you all for your condolences and memories of B. I know he would be surprised and touched to know so many of you remember him this way. I never meant to derail this thread. finkleroy requested I explain what had happened and I agreed you all should know. Please enjoy your games. I will be returning from time to time and may run another GA on my own sometime, but for now thank you all sincerely for the stories and the memories you have shared and the kindness you have extended to B and now myself.

Hoist yer tankards, mateys! May ye find treasure beyond measure in each and every day.
Thank you as well for the kind words(both here and in PM).

That said: I am guessing our great and benevolent OP likely doesn't mind the small bit of "derailing", given the situation and the words expressed by all. :)

=============

To everyone else:

With J's blessing having been given, there may still be a contest of sorts for this year's "talk like a pirate day"....either me and a few others(if they agree to and want to do it that way), or me on my own(albeit a smaller one if I go that route).

So a'fear ye not, Mateys. Raise and Hoist the Mainsail and prepare to set sail....for treasure will likely soon await ye!

(Pirate talk aside, I received J's ok to go ahead & am in contact with a few others, and will see which way the contest will go.....but whether by combining forces or on my own, there will be a contest for Sep 19th...that I promise :))
My deepest condolences to J on the passing of B. My the passage of time assuage your grief and preserve his memory

“Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal.”

I'm truly sorry to hear about his passing, I didn't talk to him much but like a lot of others, I enjoyed his Talk Like a Pirate Day giveaways. For what it's worth, you have my condolences, J
I'm sorry for your loss, i saw some of his giveaway and even his participation on the forum in general and he seems a good guy.

aRealCyborg: Thanks bjgamer for The Curse of Monkey Island!

Really sorry to hear about your husband... not really sure if there is anyway I can help...

bjgamer: You are all very welcome. Please enjoy your games, that is what B would have wanted most.

bjgamer: I am sad to have to tell you all that B passed away last week. (I am J, his wife.) We have donated here a few times and ran giveaways together, but the Talk Like A Pirate Day giveaway was his own based on his quirky sense of humor. I am still grieving the loss of my husband and best friend and am not up to running it this year, so finkleroy has received the few codes we had gotten for it before B became sick. To those who receive these games, please enjoy them.

To all here, I'm sure B would want to wish you -
"Fair winds, smooth sailing, bountiful treasure and a hold full o' GroG, me hearties!"
I am sorry for your loss madam, my condolences. We will remember him well.

arsalan12: My Father also passed away today because of Dementia ...
I am very sorry for your loss. That is a truly awful disease. My condolences. :-(

TheMonkofDestiny: Having lost someone earlier this year suddenly after illness, my heart goes out to you. I'm still struggling with the day-to-day realizations of them not being here and I can hardly imagine how much more difficult it would be when it's a spouse.
My condolences, that is really rough. I hope that you can feel encouraged and strengthened soon. May grace, mercy, and peace be given to you.
Head's up to all who might want to know:
(sorry for the offtopic)

My own smaller contest for "Talk Like a Pirate Day" will hopefully start tonight at around midnight EST, on the change from the 17th to the 18th.

Also another contest will also likely be started by another user(s) at some point as well...might be around when mine starts or after(still working out the details with those users)....and will (afaik) be more focused on B and J themselves.

Both contests will likely be linked via a URL link in their OP posts if they fall around the same time or close to it.
I know it's kinda... well... not polite but I would like to nominate OHMYGODJCABOMB for Revenant.

Thank you, but I have to reject the nomination because I already own this game. (:
