I created an account (email, passwd, DOB)

Seconds later, this message appeared:

I click on "Start verification"

And then this appears:

Your phone number can be used to verify one Discord

Why the h* do I need to give them my phone number?
Is that the -forced- process to have an account?
Please let me know. Thanks in advance

I didn't think they did that, but frankly I'd strongly recommend locking down any account with two-factor authentication anyway. I have no idea why they require your phone number, though. Are you maybe using a VPN or public computer?

No to both. Instead I smell shady ,,trendy,, practices to obtain unneeded personal data.
If I haven't bent to mandatory give my phone to Payfolk after a similar ,,sudden unexpected detection,, situation (despite a decade without any issue or complain from my side) I honestly do not see why I would do it for Thiscord.

I cannot use discord. :( They demand a phone number. (probably due to my cookie and tracking blocking extensions) I do not have a phone number, and if I did, I would not give it to them.

I just registered from my smartphone and I git a choice between verification with email or phone number and I chose email. Everything seems fine until now

Sad to see this happen after such a long time. Goodbye little giveaway now that you have grown up and are moving out ;-)

It seems that my ISP somehow blocks Discord data transmission (I wasn't able to join any Discord servers), so I probably won't be able to participate in the giveaway. Sigh. :(
