nefas21: may i have NWN, please?
I'd normally deny this due to lack of participation, but, once again, I'll make an exception simply due to the fact there's so many keys for it.
Granted.

zeogold: Howdy, folks, and welcome to the next incarnation of The Community Giveaway, a tradition carried on by the handsome IAmSinistar, the lovely moonshineshadow, and now, the Puzzlemaster himself!

*****RULES*****
PLEASE READ THESE BEFORE ASKING FOR ANYTHING.
1. If you donate a key to this giveaway, you're leaving who gets it FULLY UP TO MY DISCRETION. If you'd like to pick and choose who gets what yourself, you'll have to open up a giveaway of your own.

2. Reputable members ONLY are accepted. By "reputable", I do not mean having a high rep, but having an active presence in the community. Who I deem reputable is AT MY DISCRETION.
As a general guideline, you must have a non-recent registration and have been actively participating in the community for at least a month or so. I WILL BE THE JUDGE on whether you are reputable enough or not.

3. You will be banned from this giveaway if:
- you are rude
- you are on the Known Scammers list or have otherwise been shown to be an alt account/impersonator/troll
- you lack meaningful community participation (which usually means that most of your participation is taking from giveaway threads)
- you knowingly give empty/false/unusable codes
All blacklistings are, again, AT MY DISCRETION.

4. No code-dropping of any sort. Please. I know you mean well, but I'd rather you donate to this giveaway.

5. If you wish to make a donation, give me a PM containing the keys. You will receive full credit for your donation and your name will be added to the list of donors. You may, however, request to be anonymous, and I will honor this request.

6. Nominating other members is allowed, and encouraged. The nomination will only be accepted if the nominee falls within the terms of this giveaway, however. The nominee has a week to claim the game before it is up for grabs for everyone else again. If somebody has been nominated for a game, the game will be marked with an exclamation mark (!) until either redeemed or a week has passed. If you do not wish to receive nominations, either leave a request in the thread or PM me and you'll be added to the "no-gift" list on the OP. If you wish to be removed from this list, let me know in the same manner. Please limit the amount of nominations you make to around 3 a week.

7. The limit is one game per month. Exceptions are made for games with a dagger symbol (†), which indicates that they were given away en masse for free sometime in the past.

8. Keys are first-come, first-served.

9. Some games are on a multi-game code. If given such a code, only redeem the game you asked for. The malicious redeeming of extra keys will net you a nifty ban.

10. NO FEEDING THE TROLLS! In the event that a scammer or troll DOES arrive (and I have no doubt that they will upon seeing the very title of this thing), DO NOT PROVOKE THEM! I know who they are. You know who they are. Leave them be. I will NOT allow this thread to be derailed into a discussion about scammers.
If you're concerned that they're a scammer and I'm not noticing it, notify me via PM rather than clogging up this thread, please.

11. Ask in the thread. No requesting via PM unless you've already requested in the thread and I somehow missed it (which is unlikely since I'm on this forum a lot and this is one of the threads I lurk on frequently).

12. Only GOG keys are accepted for this thread. If you have a non-GOG key, I will accept it, but it will go to the non-GOG edition of this giveaway instead.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
I will NEVER ask for keys to be re-sent. If you get a message asking for such, ignore it, as you're likely getting scammed.

GOG has changed the chat privacy settings to default to "friends only". If you wish to be contacted by anyone here in the thread, make donations, receive nominations, etc., please remember to change your privacy settings accordingly even and especially if it was set to "anyone" before. Go to "orders & settings" and then "privacy" to accomplish this. You can read more information here.

The available games available are listed in posts 2 and 3.

I've been a member of GoG for a few years. However, I have rarely used the community and forums, but hope to change so. After all; where else can I buy genuine retro games from my childhood and then discuss them with others of the same ilk?
Anyway, I am going off point a bit, and I wanted to ask a question. Is this thread about trading? I've been awake for two days trying to make a deadline, and I am also struggling to read the text without my 'reading specs' which have vanished (much like my eyesight). So taking in a lot of the notes was a bit difficult at 10:28 on a cold Scottish morning, when all I really clamour for is my bed and some sleep!
However, I find myself with several games. Some are AAA well known, and other's less so. I love to collect games. So is this thread a donation page? Or a trading one? II know I should get some new glasses and sleep and reread the sticky, but both my impatience and curiousity are getting the better of me.. So say for example I gave yo the keys to a game, like 'Life is Strange' for example. What happens next? Sorry if this is already answered but I am really tired and need a wee bit of help. Thanks in advance to any patient person willing to explain :)

This is a giveaway thread. You can find the trading thread here.

This is a donation thread. The trading thread is GOG's (General) Trading Thread.

More specifically, given your example game, this is a donation thread for GOG keys. Since "Life is Strange" isn't available on GOG, but is on Steam, the relevant thread for that key is The Community Giveaway - Non-GOG Edition.

For both threads, you would send a chat message to zeogold with the key. He'll acknowledge receipt, and update the game list at the start of the thread with the new key. Afterward any active and established member of the forum can request the game, with a maximum of one request per month (or two requests for the non-GOG thread), and such requests are handled on a first come, first served basis.

Howdy!
This thread is a donation thread, not a trading one. If you gave me a key for X game, I would add it to the list located on the posts below the one you just quoted on the first page. It's sort of a half-tradition, half-security thing. We have a huge scammer issue on this forum whereby we'll have people walk into a giveaway with some 5-6 alt accounts and try to clean the thing out for themselves (or, in a raffle-style giveaway, boost their chances), so usually you have to do some various steps in order to check them out and make sure they're ok. I've been running this giveaway for a couple years now and have been on this forum for even longer, so I have a pretty good sense of the community and have discernment in the vetting process that most people trust.
Long story short, if you don't want to open up your own giveaway and deal with whatever that entails, you give the codes to me and I do the work for you.

There is a trading thread on the forum, you can find it here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogs_general_trading_thread
But for goodness' sakes, if you use it, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL! As I already mentioned, we have a HUGE scammer issue here and many people have lost their codes to dishonest tricksters.

Edit: I think that might be the first time I've been double-ninja'd in a good while.

To clarify on this a little bit, you don't necessarily have to be "established" in order to get a key from either Community Giveaway (i.e. some sort of long-time face or something). If I don't recognize the person (I think there's literal hundreds I recognize by this point...), I'll do a search for the username using Google and/or the forum search. Typically, I'm just looking for enough that I can see and reasonably judge that "ok, this guy probably isn't some kind of scammer/alt account/only here on the forum to get free games from people".
Pretty much the only reason rule #2 is in place is just to weed out potential scammers.

First off, thanks for the prompt reply. Back on Steam I've given away countless games, and tbh never received much in the way of a thanks. In fact one person thought that the games I was gifting them were 'embarrassing' to be seen on her game librabry. So I thought, 'to heck with that!'. I'm a struggling writer who lives from hand to mouth and so I stopped doing so. (One of was Mafia III - a game a lot of people would have liked to receive for a gift). Anyway. I have a few, wee questions. Some of my keys I don't know if they are for steam or not. And let use keep the continuing example of Life is Strange. I enjoyed the game before getting a key for another copy. What would be the protocool? I make a new post on here saying I have a key for this game for Steam? Then do I await an interested party, who I presume would give me a follow-up order? Now this is when it gets completed for me. How would the trade or exchange go ahead? Do I have any re-course if they bump me? Is there a database of previously people who have traded and proven honest?

One other thing. If I buy a game on GoG, does this mean I own the game and can trade it if I want? If I have not played it? Or is there a way of trading games I don't like in my library but someone else days? Also, if anyone wnats to add me on their steam friend list, I changed my name to just Harry. Feel free to add, and then mention you are from GoG. Also same goes for on here. All this time on GoG and I've never used the social aspect so feel free to add me.
That goes out to anyone reading this.

Again thanks Zeogold and to the other posters offering help.

If you want to donate it, you don't make a post, but send the key to zeogold via chat. He'll handle announcing its availability and distributing it (presumably only people who'd actually be interested in the game would request it; never heard of such bizarre reactions as you got on steam), Generally after people have received a game, they'll post in the thread or PM you to thank you.

If you want to get something back in return, then you post its availability on the trade thread, along with any wants you have, and people will contact you via chat to make an offer. (but as zeo said, be very, very careful with this due to scammers!)

One other thing. If I buy a game on GoG, does this mean I own the game and can trade it if I want? If I have not played it? Or is there a way of trading games I don't like in my library but someone else days?
You can only trade codes. To get a code, when buying a game here, you have to select the "gift this order" checkbox, an fill in your own email address. (If you already own the game on gog, this will happen automatically when buying it a 2nd time). Then the email will contain the code to give to zeo.

If you have a game in your account that you've never downloaded, support can also turn it into a gift key (removing it from your account).

Oh, and to be able to use chat, you need to go to your pivacy settings and set "allow conversations with" to "anyone".
