zeogold: .....am I at least close?
Is anybody else here in this thread but me?
It's lonely in here, and the last guy who was lonely in this place got stabbed and ended up in a glass container...
Am I... Am I supposed to join you or stab you?

Join me in stabbing Ghorphm with a pointy stick until he wakes up.

I think he might be dead, he hasn't moved for hours.
Not sure poking/stabbing him would help.

Then help me drag his body to the other glass container while nobody's looking!

And now we put in the strobe lights and set it on the coffee table! Makes for an absolutely gorgeous centerpiece.

Hmm... you know what? This puzzle hasn't been solved for many years mostly because... well, it's poorly designed. Now I can see that you can't really prove who is the murderer. The only thing you can do is to show who was McCrary's partner. In other words: McCrary was considering asking somebody to murder Dennis. It's possible to show who was that person. But it's still quite confusing because I can imagine you were expecting a better proof. Sadly, the puzzle is rather weak so it's the only thing you can do now.

GAH! HOW'D YOU GET OUT OF THE GLASS CONTA-
....
Omega, is that a piece of gum I see floating in there?
*sigh*

Actually, that's still a good design. I knew that somebody was McCrary's partner, and that's all I need. Most of my puzzles are designed laterally like this, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm used to it.
So...I'm going to assume my theory so far wasn't correct?
Back to the ol' drawing board.

Anyway. Current musing :

"I'm sure that Cheapskate would kill somebody if that was profitable. Interesting..."
"If something goes wrong I will have to ask to kill second D. Too bad! "
"Somebody will have to kill him when I am not here. could do it but I'm not sure... it's too risky! "

could all refer to Sophia White. Cheapskate financial supervisor (others complain about their salaries), and white could be the blank in the two other sentences ("I will have to ask _ to kill", "_ could do it").

Miguel Rodriguez could be the "spik" with a crush, covering for her or killing for her. His missing gum could be due to a kiss. And their hug could be what (knowing that they were vaguely spotted by Jacob Ward) she discribed as him putting his hand on her shoulder to drag her away from the room.

But if Ward is reliable, she didn't enter the room. It's unclear whether she headed for it and Rodriguez popped out of it, or wether (in contradiction to her version) she headed from the toilets and Rodriguez popped out of them. "Roy went to the toilet which is right next to this door. Sophia was going there but Miguel came out" is a bit ambiguous (there = ?). But I don't see the consequences of it.

There's the possibility of Jacob Ward sneaking out of the toilets into the next room while the three were busy down the corridor, in order to commit the crime there after Rodriguez has left, which would explain Rodriguez' claim of not seeing the body. But I don't see how McCrary's notes could hint at Ward's complicity.

So that's it for this year's bump.
