So a few weeks back I posted on how my college is closing it's campus after this year, most of my core friends aren't returning due to life issues and money. Well here's an update to my rant/vent/I'm stupidly angry...
As it turns out a bunch of my friends are returning which is good. I've got a great first semester class schedule with great prof's. So all's good there. But here's the kicker which gets me so angry.
The college has been/will be confirmed closed soon. We have a total of 40 (give or take) students attending the college this year. Mind you, the drop maybe because allot of first year students prefer a real college campus over an online campus which, I can agree with if it weren't for the fact that this college has the best pastoral leadership courses in North America.
The other big reason for the drop is the fact that they dropped their Theatre Arts program. Now, this program is actually critically acclaimed to be one of the best when it comes to college Theatre arts programs. I wasn't in this but I did read an article by (apparently) I big theatre website that said that what the courses were teaching was things that pro broadway actors seek out to study for their reputare, and here it's standard course. The course was acclaimed for it's great teaching methods and steller performances that gave seasoned theatre goer's chills.
Closed... yup they closed it. If you know what article I'm refering to there are some lies in there, the college is helping the music and theatre students figure out what their next steps are, their leaving them out to dry.
But here's something I learned that gets me really angry... another college in the same city, Alberta Bible college, has 16 students registered for this whole year and their staying open. My college's big push and main goal is "community" yet their closing... or their not... Which is another big issue I'm having. Some staff say the school is closing after this year, others say it's not. There's really no communication with us the students. I need to know if the school is closing so I can look at other colleges. I wanted to know for sure this summer so I could spend some of my summer touring other colleges but I've been hearing yes, no, yes, no, from every other prof/staff at the school...
And another thing, their closing the campus for an online format... from what I've heard from people who have taken online courses all their lives, this online format isn't al that good. It's clunky and doesn't seem to work the whole time.
Right now I'm stressed and the school isn't helping all that much... That's my vent... I'm angry/worried/sad/angry... yeah...
