jepsen1977: My PS2 Slim died after only 8-9 months and now I probably have to send it back to the online Company I bought it from and have to deal with shipping and all that jazz. The worst part is that it's not even totally dead but only in a coma because it will not turn on properly and some times have to be rebooted 5-10 times before it starts.
That's annoying because I have a ton of PS2 games that I haven't played and would love to try.
avatar
GameRager: That sucks. :(

(I also have a ton of ps2 games I never played and still have yet to get to....someday i'll take a crack at that particular stack of my backlog[I hope].)

Word of advice: The slim actually has the highest failure rate(of the PS2 types)......you should stick with the chunky yet more reliable "fat boy" if you ever decide to buy a new one.

(I'm also good at doing minor maintenance on the "fat boys"......I can usually clean the laser lenses, dust out the fans/heatsink/casing, etc with relative ease.)

reaver894: no but its my dining room and kitchen
avatar
GameRager: Bah, what difference does that make? Someone should pay YOU for doing all that property maintenance, I would think. ;D

avatar
Antimateria: You are artist or are you those people who make mass effect porn animations in rule34, which sometimes pretty great.
avatar
GameRager: I recently got into the darker side of tumblr.......I thought I had no free time before, but this is just crazy. Someone.....save me.......hellllllllllp.

Also dammnit no spoilers without spoiler warnings! :P

(I haven't finished ME3 yet, dagnabbit!)
Thx for the advice but sadly the Slim PS2 is the only one we can buy new here in Denmark so it's the only one I can get (I guess I could look for a Fat PS2 used though). The Online store does cover any expenses but it's still a pain in the ass to get them to fix the issue. But that's how it goes some times.

Well I was actually talking about a used PS2(The used fat PS2s are pretty sturdy, I might add). :)
I hate the new version ( 19.0.2 ) of Firefox .

Sometimes i have to refresh the webpages twice to read the newest forum posts .

The problem with Firefox is that it's an "open" browser, and as such it's gotten more and more bloated over the years. If you want a better browser you should try one of the FF offshoots or even Chromium.

Fenixp: I like when these school exercises clash with reality:
"Give me a bit more time, I still think it runs a few seconds too long"
"Ah don't worry, no one's gonna notice anyway"
LOL - I hear something similar all the time: "The machine seems to take a long time <usually an extra second or two> to do XYZ. Can we speed that up to save time?" Sure, or you could get your operators to quit fucking off five minutes at a time and REALLY speed up production. "Nah, it's the machine."

------

So our land-search saga has an update or two:

The listing agent talked to the developer and the dev says, 'no problem working from the home, so long as there's no customer traffic.' Sweet - customers NEVER come by the house. I told her we'll need that in writing if we make an offer; we'll see how that goes.

She also let us know about three other, much larger, lots that are available. They're all very close to yet another place we've looked at, but they are quite big for our needs: 12-21 acres. That's a lot of land to deal with. But damn, who doesn't want to walk out in the middle of 21 acres and proclaim, "I am Lord and Master of All I Survey!"

And so my bitch is this: Analysis Paralysis. "The price is good. Yeah, but we'd have to pay to put in a well. But the lots are a good size, just about perfect for us. Yeah, but that's still a lot of property to take care of. And it's out in the country like we want. Yeah, but it's about twice as far for her to drive to work. Well, the lots are flat and already cleared. Yeah, but you'll have to pay to put in some trees once the house is built. And the taxes are a bit lower. Yeah, that's because you have to install and maintain your own septic system."

And so it goes in my mind, over and over and over... I should just flip a coin and be done with it.

AlKim: On a happier note, my new lock arrived. Frequent readers might remember that my bikes - including the current one - have been favourite targets among thieves, so let's hope this heavy old bastard puts an end to that.
Quoting my own text feels weird, but here we go. Turns out the new lock was either faulty or just a really shitty design; it worked most of the time (somehow, anyway), but I took my bike home today to melt all the ice off her and decided to have a closer look at the lock now that it wouldn't be needed for a while. Inserted the key and turned it a couple of times, getting results from all over the spectrum: sometimes the bolt engaged perfectly, usually only partially, and a few times it failed to react to the movement of the key at all. The lock was made by a well-known and highly-regarded bicycle security company, so it's probably the rare faulty product rather than just crap design, which doesn't really change the fact that sending this thing back costs a decent chunk of money. At least the replacement will be shipped for free and, if everything works swimmingly, to my front door. That one had better be good.

Curious riding conditions, by the way. It's -14° at the moment, but it was around -2° during the day and the sun was shining, creating truly bizarre conditions. I rode my bike to the city centre (not a long journey, a couple of minutes perhaps), during which time the front derailleur froze up and left me stuck on the biggest chainring. Parked the bike, chipped the ice off the derailleur, popped to a shop for five minutes and discovered the rear had frozen while I was away. Rode in the intense sunshine for fifteen seconds and it started working again. But hey, at least spring's coming.

Move to the Upper Peninsula where I live. 99% of the people here are Finish, all of the street signs are in Finish, and there is no crime so you don't need locks.

It's what you get for isolating yourself and pushing people away from you. Don't deserve one bit of the love I receive. Ah, the bastard I've become.

When we have quandaries like this we T-square em. Pros and cons go on each side - you can even weight them numerically if you have a tie in your T-square. It really helps us to visualize the issues, determine what each plus or minus is worth and then to make a decision based on some kind of logical analysis.
