nijuu: Tried opening it up and having a peek whether the fan is accessible to see if its connections loose? (thats if its not under warranty...)
Unfortunately, the fan isn't that easily accessible, and requires the whole case of the laptop to be opened. Adding to this the fact that one of the screws can no longer be unscrewed due to the use of a wrong screwdriver, and that it should be still covered by the "No Matter What" guarantee, I preferred to take it for service.
It is quite possible that a connector was moved, since the last thing I did was blow at the fans with compressed air, though neither at full pressure, nor for longer than 5 seconds at a time.

Oh well, the autopsy will tell us what went wrong.
Man, do I have something fot this thread ... again. I'm starting to think that saturdays dont like me:
-Woke up and found out that the Internet at my house was out. My brother called to the telephone company and we'll be without Internet until monday or tuesday thanks to some problems at the telephone company.
-Went to the bank to pay the electricity bill of my business, and the bank was closed for maintenance. I thought "No problem, I'll pay the bill in the ATM". Saw someone else paying his credit card bill. When it was my turn, the machine ate part of my money and I wont get it back until monday, because the bank is closed,
- Then I went to another bank to try to pay the bill, but the cashier said he could only accept the original bill not a print out from internet. Finally I went to a third bank and finally payed the bill.
- On my way to the bus stop, a girl friend i was going to see in the late in the afternoon, called me to cancel because she had to take care of her grandma. The plan was to watch a movie at her house all by ourselves. Her mom and her brother went on a trip for the weekend, and the last 2 times we were alone at her house we made out. So I was looking forward to that.
-Then my ex called. Asked me if I had plans for the afternoon. Told her no. Then she told me if I wanted to go to see a movie. "Sure. Why not?" I answered. I have no other plans. Since I was close to the movie theater I went to buy the tickets but was still closed. More wasted time.
-When I finally arrived (45 minutes late) to my business (A cybercafe) clients started to arrive. Some minutes later, without explanation, 3 of the terminals powered down at the same time. The strange thing everything else was working fine.
-But the "cherry on top "so far was I found a client masturbating and watching porn in one of the cubicles. The worst part was that next to him was a girl doing her homework. Fortunately she didn't found out. After she left, I called him out and told him he should never do that again here. I dont care if they watch or download porn as long no one else finds out, but if they are going to jerk off they better do it somewhere else.
Sorry for the long post. I just had to let all this out.

F4LL0UT: AIDS? Gonorrhea? Oh, sorry, I misread your post.

Anyway, I think you misunderstood the meaning of "bitching about life". :P

Sebek: Well usually it would be and i love it but this place is just beyond depressing... just blah

F4LL0UT: No offense but all of Scandinavia is depressing. You should go to a different country far away. I heard Spain is supposed to be nice. :p
Well true, it's all snowy and cold and all forest here, so yeah but still i think most of us like it this way (-:
It's just this particular area that's not good for my health. Some people like sunny weather and parties and tits (yay) and some like places like this :3
I win a iPhone 4...but I know Android SO's....
So...I started really hating Apple.
edit-never mind I don't even want to think of it, let alone have it possibly brought up in conversation here

Hah, it's nothing to bitch about really, but I got a work iPhone and just more and more keep wishing it was an Android phone. And it's not even me hating apple or anything, the features of iPhone just seemed ... Utterly underwhelming to me when compared with an Android phone from the same period.

Interviews for jobs really give me the heebeegeebees. Hate them. Especially panel interviews. sigh
I hate myself being too lazy to switch the bank. And there's really just one big reason for wanting to switch: their online banking service sucks, and just keeps sucking more and more. I pay for the service (monthly service charges) and have to use it frequently, so I expect it to work for me.

The main problem is that they insist on using that abomination known as Java for the service. And more than just that, their implementation with it seems to be very finicky.

Being based on Java means automatically that I can't use it on e.g. Android tablets, nor does it work even with the WinRT ("Metro") Internet Explorer in Win8. But also their implementation refuses to work in e.g. Linux desktop machines running the default OpenJDK ("open source Java") that otherwise seems to work great elsewhere (where Java is required).

Just for that, earlier I went through the hassle to replacing OpenJDK with the official Oracle Java in Linux (Mint). And it worked fine too...until today.

Now the online banking portal complains on the main page that many _Windows_ users seem to have issues logging in when using Firefox or Chrome, so people should use Internet Explorer instead. Sure enough, I also have problems in Linux logging in (with Firefox and Oracle Java). Oh and they warn something about Macs too, apparently Mac users also have to go through some hoops in order to log in.

So WTF? Can't they replace that with something working? I wish to use something that works, outside mere Internet Explorer. It can't be that hard, can it? I've endured this skit for many years now, and it seems to be getting only worse.

Oh yeah, they have two other alternative ways for online banking, a text based portal, and newer Android and iOS apps. The problem is, these alternative portals are very bare-boned, having only the basic functionality. No possibility to e.g. send money abroad, you need the Java desktop version of the portal for the little more demanding things. And these alternative portals have been around for quite long already, it seems they are not going to include all the functionality in them.

Stupid stupid stupid... I wish I knew if the online banking systems of competing banks have similar pitfalls.

I know there is still a place for java on the machine for local programs, but for safety reasons it's highly recommended to switch it off in the browsers. With Sun bought up by Oracle it seems they have big trouble to fix all the bugs just in time, it seems there are constantly security vulnerabilities. So, if that helps your decision, ask your bank if they plan to switch the system and abandon java. If they don't want to, search another one. Really, java and online banking is from the security point of view an awful combination today.

Edit: About the problem with firefox. Because of the known security problems they disabled java with the last update. Maybe that's the problem here or the reason the bank asked for the explorer. Check under add-ons and plugins, maybe you can reactivate it. But again, from the security point of view it's not a good decision.

Yeah that too. Fortunately even my Linux machines were set to update also the Oracle Java automatically, as soon as Oracle released the much needed security fixes in the latest version.

But I'd definitely prefer not using Java for online banking, both for the security reasons and how it may have extra issues on non-Windows environments. Maybe I should call the other banks and ask whether they require Java for online banking.

I would be fine using even the text based portal, if it just had all the same functionality as the desktop Java portal.

I think they have just invested too much on their current broken service to make a switch just like that.
