Yup I used to do that all the time. When I thought I couldn't mop up the baddies I'd leave those helpless limping fools around, half dead and swinging their weapons uselessly.

Or I'd attack over a "wider area" spreading my damage out more (as opposed to focusing fire like I tend to do in TBS games). I liked that it switched up how I was used to thinking about playing these sort of games.

I had a set of nasty archer that would be responsible for dropping the armor of particularly hard to crack baddies.

While I enjoyed the first Banner Saga, and want them to succeed and make more similar games, part of me wishes for the Steam version to show up on torrents all over the interwebs, just so they have to drop their bullshit excuses. It's not like Steam is some sort of magic cure-all against software piracy. Even bigger games, with better protection, still end up being pirated.

Heck, I'd be fine with it if they want to delay the DRM-free version for a few months, if they feel like that would reduce piracy. But their attitude and excuses are really disappointing.
I agree, that combat mechanic was very counter-intuitive. I also would have liked some more depth to customization, such as more item slots per character, and perhaps less linear progress on the world map. Overall it was a very solid game, though.

Well, if you want a DRM-free copy to happen, you should write to them and make it clear that not offering a DRM-free version is just losing them paying customers.

As a matter of fact, I call upon all GOGers that have pledged at the $50 level or above to check out the KS Backer update and to voice their dismay/anger/blind rage in the comments section. All those GOGers who pledged at a lower level or just want to see E2 and 3 released here should contact them either via the comments section of the update, KS PM system or via email/social networks.

I would guess that the Steam version will end up on torrent sites all over the 'net, and that they will release on GOG when they run out of excuses. But that's likely a false hope. After all, they still haven't given GOG the Linux release of the first game, that one's only on Steam.

Ofc it will unless they decided to add Denuvo. But it just doesnt make sense to have the first game on GOG but not planning to add the 2nd. But after someone mention that they are yet to add the Linux version I can only assume that Stoic dont care about GOG anymore.

I find that emotion and not logic rule when it comes to piracy. Some devs don't care that a pirated copy =/= a lost sale. They just don't want anyone using what they feel should have been paid for. Understandable, but they won't get anything from me until they release DRM-free.

There may be a success story in GOG (or DRM free in general) like Witcher 3 and Stardew Valley. But the real question is, is the extra effort (different builds, time, labor cost) worth it?

In the end, Steam is the king - including Windows-only, others just mere sidekicks. Statistics don't lie.

Yeah. I mean, I have a Steam account. I do use Steam for a few other games, both "natively" (of course some Linux releases are "ported" using Wine-based products) and under Wine. But I have this game (and hundreds others, but that's irrelevant) on GOG, because I prefer that platform to Steam.
