Honestly I just don't see how the script is that bad unless Aleric is right and it's just pissing off the trolls b/c they can't go after people they used to enjoy going after. *shrugs* i dunno.

But folks have been complaining about the rep / spam system for a long time now. gOg, for whatever reason, hasn't removed the + and - buttons. So that leaves it up to the community itself to deal with it. Some use script crap to censor certain members from themselves, some continue to auto-click the '-' and then report as spam to censor certain members from everyone. Is anyone doing the more difficult thing, but the thing that will actually make a difference? i.e. stop repeating the cycle.

we all say shit we later regret, it happens. sometimes people accept an apology, sometimes they can't. after you apologize there is nothing else you can do but move on. it's not worth dwelling on. none of this is. like hereforthebeer said, it's not worth getting that wound up about.

And if your actions make them use something like jerkmuter on you, then that is there prerogative and in no way means they are shitty or the creator of the code is shitty. actually it is kind of a good idea, especially if someone is being consistently stalked and horribly harassed in a forum. why should that person not get to enjoy the forum b/c of nothing they did?

I'd say it boils down to this.
I clearly remember the jerkmuter thread and the discussion about it and arguments like "I don't want my friends to not being able to talk to each other" or "In real life you can't just block someone so it should not be possible here". And those where the "friendly" arguments, it descended rather fast into mudslinging and agression between people liking the script and people thinking that everyone should be forced to at least see their posts (even if you can't force anyone to read the post anyway).

All this silly hate about a script that introduced a feature that most normal forum softwares offer anyway *sigh*
