Depending on what you call "DRM" you could say games that run only on Windows but not Linux are under DRM. You have to buy a outside program to run something. If you don't think that's DRM, then maybe requiring Steam launcher isn't DRM either?

Like DRM is a broad term with many meanings. Who's to say which meaning is right?

And every forum moderation goes too far at some point, or not enough at other times.

I can give you an example: on October 20th 2022, I posted on this thread:

for the anniversary of the contest, saying that it was ridiculous and illegal that the contest was unresolved, and that GOG was continuing to breach the self-set terms and conditions of its contests.

The post was deleted and the thread was locked without any comment or message.

So don't tell me GOG is any better than Steam.

1: This is GOG's house. It is not owned by the US government, nor is it able to restrict your free speech. This is a private forum on a private site. Freedom of speech specifically applies to the government's ability to chill speech. GOG nor Steam are the US government.

2. Discrimination only applies to specific protected classes. Outside those protected classes, you can deny service to anyone you choose for any reason. This means if I don't like red hats, I can deny service or entry to anyone wearing a red hat. If I don't like people who drive Chevy, I can make that a policy. If I don't like people who talk about certain topics, I'm not required to entertain them. Perhaps you should understand the US constitution and Anti-discrimination laws before citing them.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Steam forums certainly do not allow free speech, and nor do GOG forums either.

Both are anti-free speech platforms.
There's a difference between being 'anti-free speech' and moderating your community with rules you dictate yourself on servers you own and pay for yourself.

GOG isn't campaigning to have free speech removed from people's government-protected liberties. They just have smaller, more granular control over their property.

Well now this isn't true, nor is there any reason it should be. I hate Steam, but they have the right to ban any subject they want from their forums, just as GOG can and does. Freedom of speech applies to government censorship, not what rules companies impose on the forums they host. Ultimately we are guests in GOG's house when using this forum.

it is amazing, yet lacking any surprise whatsoever how many people both responded to, and even more pertinently MISCONTRUED almost everything I shared. Like it was a simple post, something that was quite clear, so that is on you for flubbing up so hard.

Yea greedy valve take 30%cut and instead of work (reasonably moderate their forums -just deleting spam) they save money and put responsibility to developers (and even if they do, they can set rules for them to not have ability to ban people) . We really need better alternative to corporate steam.(common gog you can do better)
Also new stupid regulations put unreasonable pressure + AI chatbots..
