real.geizterfahr: This
could be a small hint that they dumped the EP I-III look!
Breja: So... the best thing about it are miniscule details that may, perhaps, mean this or that about the art design. Truly, the most awesome teaser ever!
Uhm... It's a fucking
TEASER!? You know what "to tease" means? So, yes, the best thing aboout this teaser are some small details that could... well... tease the direction the new films are going to take. This teaser teases things O.O
Breja: Also, it's really not as if the way starships looked was the problem with the prequels. It's not as if redisigning ships and stuff would have made those movies any better. Hell, I even liked some of those designs, like the pre-imperial Star Destroyers.
I didn't say they were bad because of the design of the ships and droids. I just said it's
one of the reasons I didn't like them. It didn't look like Star Wars at all, except from the Star Destroyer-ish ships (which were - together wit the Stormtrooper-ish clones - meant as a teaser for the rise of the Empire, but lets don't get back to that one).
Breja: When I heard there is trailer for the new Star Wars coming, the movie with the orignal cast andy the great Max von Sydow I certainly did not think to myself "god, I hope there are some bulky speeders in this!".
Well... I did! I hoped for "bulky speeders" (the old, worn Star Wars look), proper actors (Hayden Christensen -.- Absolutely horrible!) and a script that respects the original trilogy (no more Midi-chlorian Jesus bullshit and "Jedi rapid tests"). The
first teaser (note the words "first" and "teaser") showed me that we'll get back the Star Wars look, so I'm talking about this single aspect. I can't comment on the acting or the respect towards the original trilogy, because the teaser didn't show any acting or plot details. That's the job of full length trailers, not of small teasers.
Elmofongo: But seriously you say the CG in 3 movies sucked in that time frame? Either you have seen better CGI in movies released along side it or George Lucas really does not know how to utilize CGI well.
What darthspudius said. The CGI wasn't bad for its time. It's just that almost EVERYTHING was CGI (even most landscapes). It was just too much.
Tarm: For me it's that they were too shiny. It was like watching a old 1950s film where everything is brand spanking new and shiny in a perfect world. Got me out of the star wars mood if that makes any sense.
It does! At least to me. That's why I'm happy to see a bulky and old speeder in this teaser ;)
