Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.

(And yeah, I tend to get the emails about 8 hours after the event as well. I do now know that the sales like the Insomnia one tend to start at 2PM for me [GMT] so I can typically anticipate when something might start up.

OK, groaner aside, I'm curious if they will put 100 games again or if they decide to add more this time around.

I don't think GOG would do such a cruel thing. It's similar to pretending the site will be shut down.
They will never do that. Never.

Well, the ten round/all items for sale regardless of age thing is pretty doubtful. But if I wanted to get a whole lot of people very, very interested in my sale? I'd definitely use one of the shiny Lucasarts bits and shove it in the middle of the maze for that extra level of consumer motivation.

Emm... the idea of a sale or promo is to increase one's clientèle, not to anger the existing user-base to the point they leave and never look back. It's quite likely that you'd be the only one following such a sale.


EDIT: I consider myself pretty much a hardcore Insomnia Promo fan, but even I wouldn't sit glued to my monitor for this kind of torture.

Figure it'd end up like a larger, more headline-grabbing version of what's here now - some people like it, some people can take it or leave it, some people love it and some people don't like it at all. Pretty sure every game media site would be running articles about it, though. The exposure would be through the roof.
As for people leaving and not coming back? Seems kinda silly to do that over a sale....I'm sure someone would get asshurt to an absurd degree, but some people seem to enjoy that feeling and look for it at every opportunity regardless.

Additional - referring to the people who always seem to be looking for an excuse to get as outraged as possible over things that are ultimately completely inconsequential.
