There will be blood. Delicious blood.

<span class="bold">Vampire&reg;: The Masquerade - Bloodlines&trade;</span>, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is <span class="bold">Vampire&reg;: The Masquerade - Bloodlines&trade;</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at <span class="bold">Patches Scrolls</span>.

Reaper9988: Hmmm what's the incentive to buy that old game (no matter how great) for this price ?

Or for that matter what is activisions justification for this Price ?
avatar
Trilarion: For that price? I wouldn't buy it, unless I wanted to actively support the publisher (Activision) which I do not really want to.

In some months during the next 50% sale for half the price? I plan to buy it instantly because it features a lot of fun and gameplay for the low price then.

GOG, great classic. Fantastic as always.
Oh I agree the game is great and good for GoG it's here, not blaming GoG.
I'm just baffled by activisions greed yet again. Especially seeing how alot of the work on the game has been done for free by the community.
Better late than never, eh? I also shamefully bought it on Steam quite some time ago, but I'm glad people who held out (or already had the disc) can now get it DRM-free. Keep chipping away at that wish list GOG!
Nice, finally Bloodlines is here.

JudasIscariot: Have you confirmed this or is this a guess?

MBiL_248: I've bought the game, started it, viewed the intro (both: the normal one and legacy) and it's definitely the censored version: Link

My system language is German of course, I don't know if that matters?
so anyone can confirm if GOG offers censored bloodlines for every region?
avatar
Moon-and-Star: Toreador are the "artsy" clan and Ventrue are the "business-y" clan, if you go by stereotypes. :D Personally, my favourite will always be Tremere, because they are the "mage-y" clan, and Thaumaturgy is just my favourite discipline in the P&P version of the game. In Bloodlines it's even more powerful, as if that was necessary...
Every Tremere I knew either go Lure of Flames or Path of Blood.

The larping got messy.

Mine is not censored. I can see the decapitation. This is from the Unofficial patch, though; which here is in its basic form, not plus, which means only bugs fixed and issues addressed, not new content or game changes. Will try the vanilla game too (gog installation offers both types) and i will update.

Also, about clans, a general stereotype map would be:

1) Brujah. Something like an extreme left wing troublemaker, or an anarch; specialty the short fuse, strong physique and messy behavior.
2) Gangrel. Something like a wild norse warrior or shaman of old, spiritual, feral, in sync with nature, shapeshifter too.
3) Malkavian. Your typical mad prophet who is mad, but neither stupid nor dangerous (to themselves or others). Wisdom and bullshit go hand in hand in their every word uttered.
4) Ventrue. Something like a corrupt politician of modern types, like the center to right wing. Full of scandals, hypocrisy, agendas, manipulation, lies, deceit and control of others.
5) Toreador. Something like your regular eccentric, narcissistic, vainglory-pumped, pompous spoiled brat but okay, beautiful too, that made art their profession; considered artists but somehow, they are the best firearms users in Bloodlines, too.
6) Nosferatu. Ugly and disease-ridden abomination to behold in sight, you have to skulk shadows, like a leper. Or a bum.
7) Tremere. Your mainstream, politically incorrect occultist. If you are a creepy guy or gal fascinated by the real life twisted branches of western occultism, you may enjoy this roleplaying option inside a fantasy setting. Or if you are none the wiser and simply want to enjoy a smooth ride through the game, with the most powerful character in it.

There's only one version for all regions at the moment. Apparently the intro was modified/fixed in later patches.

Well, the standard path for Tremere is the Path of Blood; it's the most common one in the clan and the one that is most likely to be the primary path for the average Tremere (some STs even forbid taking a different primary path, YMMV). Ironically, I'm currently playing a Tremere in a P&P group who has Path of Blood and Lure of Flames...
(I'm definitely having fun. Our two Brujah players, not so much - I still await the day they fail their frenzy checks. It will probably happen sooner rather than later. :D)

so GOG offers the censored or uncensored version?

P1na: BTW, it's a pity the OST isn't included. More for Deb's night than for the actual songs.
the soundtracks are nothing more then mp3's hiding in the installed games folder
you can fish them out rename them and instant ost

MBiL_248: Thanks for your quick reply, but then you have the censored UK version of the game as it seems. It's not a big cut, but it*s a cut. Apart from this little issue that's a worthy addition to GOG's catalogue of course. :)

JudasIscariot: Have you confirmed this or is this a guess?
Yeah, I seem to be getting the censored UK version here too. The camera cuts away from the decapitation in the opening scene as shown in MBiL_248's link: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4302

This is using the unofficial patched version.

Edit: Which is odd as from what i'm reading online the patch is supposed to restore this scene but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Edit 2: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2024702

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/914819-vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines/64939101

Okay, sounds like it's a timing issue on some PCs that can't be quite fixed? Not sure.
