Quick, buy it! Before GOG can region lock it...
^^
I bet we've already been blocked from every access to info about the Wolfenstein 3D release on GOG today. ;)
Is GZDoom still the "best" source port for Doom?
Awesome releases! Nothing more to say! :D
Best release news ever. Didn't think this would ever happen!

For me personally it is, however there is a bug in the current versions when playing Heretic that causes a certain enemy's whrilwind attack to rapidly increase armor to insane levels rather than damage it like it's supposed to.

Well, they didn't release anything that would require a lock. None of these games are on the index anymore, so....wayne.

The rest of the Quake series or any Wolfenstein games GOG might have signed, though? Now that I'm more worried about. : /
Hello GOG. You forgot to make Linux installers for Doom.
As someone who already owns Doom + Quake on steam, are these versions worth it? Manuals aren't much of an incentive to buy it again :(

Didn't one of the Doom games originally contain secret Wolfenstein - levels? Before Bethesda changed or deleted them for the BFG-Edition.

Doom 2's secret levels were modified to remove swastikas, the portraits of Hitler and to change the SS-soldiers to zombiemen.

Depends on what you're looking for, man. ZDoom or GZDoom are usually the best for more casual Doom players that want nicer looking graphics, or users that want to run mods that requires an engine that can do things that the original Doom engine could not(slopes, particle effects, scripting, etc.) But there are other ports like Chocolate Doom that aim at giving users a more classic experience, and these are also good for people who record demos, because since ports like these are basically the unaltered vanilla game, the demos won't de-synch.

Yeah, Doom 2 has two Wolfenstein-themed secret levels. These were modified for the BFG version to remove any nazi symbols. HOWEVER, as far as I know, the stand-alone version of Doom 2 on Steam is completely uncensored. I'n not entirely sure about that, though. Would be interesting to know what GOG is selling here, exactly.
It's great to finally see id Software on GOG! Be sure to check out the mods for Quake 1! Epsilon is one of my favorites!

Will GOG get any of the later Quake or Doom series?

I'm curious about this as well, but I doubt it's going to matter that much considering most people are going to use a source-port anyways.
