F4LL0UT: What do you mean? Were they part of the bonus material or have they "hidden" the OGG files that used to lie openly in the game folder?
The windows version of Quake used ogg files to play the music, while the Dos version has cd images, which should still be there. Not sure if anything changed in the last hour or so.

The Windows version had working music, thanks to the OGG files that GOG put in the game. Apparently, there were legal issues with that, so GOG had to remove the OGG files from the Windows version. The DOS version still retains the music, thanks to the Audio CD image that comes with it. More info here.

I'm surprised they were able to include it at all. I think it's been years since you could get the audio as part of the game other than by buying a used CD copy.

I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't been ironed out over the years as I thought that Trent wasn't interested in keeping the music from being distributed. Or at least, I thought I'd read somewhere that he didn't care about people downloading it, although, I can't recall where I read that and I still own a copy of the game, so it doesn't really matter to me.
9.99 original price still sounds kinda steep for a 20 year old pair of games. yes, lot bigger than doom 1 , but final doom didn't improve much on doom 2 or 1. it's basically the same game engine with new maps.

anyhoo, i thought the PSX version was pretty decent port, but i got sick of the level design. felt more like a maze game than a shooter.

I take back some of the bad things I've said about Bethesda (still grossly un-fond of them, but this is cool).

I own DOOM already on Steam, but that didn't stop me from buying it again. Just had to buy it again to support this move. Even bought a copy to gift to my friend so we can play together (the first thing we did was deathmatch).

Kudos GOG for including the Setup tool, something the Steam version was lacking.

Call me weird, but I simply love supporting when a game I like gets sold here, especially when it was on a DRM platform beforehand.

Thanks again GOG!

Barry_Woodward: Doom
There is also DOOM 64. Despite the awful naming scheme and console exclusivity, the game is actually the third Classic DOOM game. Through the use of the source port DOOM 64 EX, the game can be comfortably played on the PC.

1. This is the first of all of the games I will repurchase through GOG that I have on Steam. It seems to me that people more interested in gaming than naively being a part of the Zeitgeist are likely to do the same -hell, that they've been waiting to do the same. As someone that has very little that is positive to say about Bethesda I cannot help but say that I am very happy with them for letting GOG start to sell some of their titles. Here's to hoping that Bethesda is moving in the right direction, generally, and will continue with more titles, more specifically.

2. GOG/CDPR, my birthday is this Saturday and this was as wonderful a surprise gift as getting a DVD copy of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I cannot express just how happy I am to see these id Software titles, some of the objectively best games in video game history nevermind personal favourites, finally coming to home. I join any number of people in saying thank you very, very much for making this happen. Here's to hoping for more and especially with Galaxy.

...and speaking of Galaxy, since I'm in the process of DLing Quake: the Offering right now, how will multi-player work? Will there being connectivity through Galaxy?
About damn time!
I've been waiting for the original Dooms to show up here for far too long. Better late than never.

And while the prices may seem high to some of you folks, they seem entirely reasonable to me, since they are true Classics in my book. Well worth it.

Keep up the great work, GOG! You've been on a winning streak lately.
