pacciulli: This version of quake has the soundtrack?

Thiev: yes, the game has CD-Audio added;
INSTABUY! That was one big reason I never bought it on Steam. Knew if GOG ever got this game you'd do a better job!
the childhood memories *sigh*
F*ck my life, I miss the good old days when I actually enjoyed games.
In regards to GOG and games restricted in Germany, since GOG is not actually based in Germany, as far as I know GOG has no legal obligation to comply with German law and restrict these games from sale.

There isn't any restriction anymore. It was lifted a few years ago.

They have already regionally-locked the Commandos series for German users. Let's just say that a possible release of the Wolfenstein series might end up having a similar fate.

Its possible the publisher required the game to be blocked in Germany as part of the deal to release it on GOG.

As for censorship of the games already on GOG, my understanding is that in Germany, the original release of Doom 2 had the Wolfenstein hidden levels removed completly.

That said, Germany needs to stop being so stupid and get rid of all this censorship BS... (its another item for the long list of reasons I dont like Germany :)

Huinehtar: Raah, it's like I litteraly heard the voice from UT for the first word!
Blasphemy!
:D
But... "impressive" is from Quake 3. o_O

I wonder if you said "blasphemy" because you "heard" the wrong voice or just because you confused where "impressive" is from.
Just mentioning, the soundtrack oggs have been pulled from the Quake game 8 hours after release. So if you are going for Quake for the soundtrack, well ...

The thing is that Commandos had been available to Germans for years and it only disappeared when the website "went German". It's unlikely that it has anything to do with the deal with the publisher.

I dont think theres anything wrong with the contry itself.
Its politics, politicians, Bureaucrat,s and silly laws one shoud dislike.

I went there some years ago and most germans i met was nice and most importanly not outrigth rude.
Though then i wished that more Germans knew english.
I only knew basic german and it was really hard asking around for stuff.
Granted this was back in 98 so it migth have changed now.

Actually, no. The games were retroactively regionally-locked, at the same time that GOG introduced German language support on the site.

Doom 2 on Steam is sold completely uncensored, swastikas and all, even for German users (just like GOG). guess it's easy to "hide" something when it's mostly on secret levels. but very difficult when the game in question is in essence "You vs Nazis".

What do you mean? Were they part of the bonus material or have they "hidden" the OGG files that used to lie openly in the game folder?

The 2nd part I guess. The original Quake game had the soundtrack ready to play it in a cd player. GOG said there are licensing issues.

You'll have to encode the CD images yourself.

As I own the original CD, well that would be an approach.
