In this game of thrones, you mutate or you die. Horribly.


<span class="bold">Nuclear Throne</span>, a wild roguelike where you mutate your way to the throne of a post-apocalyptic world, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac (with a Linux version also on its way).

Apocalypses tend to be volatile and unpredictable, but if there's one thing you can count on, it's that once they hit, there's going to be a chaotic struggle for supremacy. What better way to get ahead in this race than with flexible mutant powers and an overpowered arsenal at your disposal? The Nuclear Throne is ripe for the taking, so grab one of the 12 available characters, exploit their unique abilities, and exterminate your opponents. Mutate your limbs in imaginative ways and create incredibly fun combos (of powers and weapons) to survive the frozen cities, underground labs, and vast deserts filled with radiation-fueled enemies. Just make sure to wash your hands afterwards. Assuming you even have hands.

Instabought. Seriously, with GOG's latest subpar releases, I'll take anything that looks remotely fun and isn't a cRPG or a strategy game...

You can't save. It's a permadeath but you can unlock carachters when you win a specific level

Crosmando: It's such a shame that these "rogue-lites" have become more prolific and popular than actual roguelikes. Yet more evidence that the majority of gamers have bad taste.

I contacted the dev a few weeks about getting this on GOG, haven't received any reply. I hope it makes it here one day as it looks like a really good game.

Looks like a fun release, though probably have too many roguelikes in my library to play all of them, so may have to wait a bit. I like the theme of the game better than yet another fantasy one though for sure!

Awesome, glad I held out purchasing on Steam for so long. Wonder if the DRM-free and Steam versions of the game can seamlessly co-op? I think my friends all bought it on Steam...

As far as I'm aware it's only local co-op both here and on Steam.

Since Vlambeer is still doing business with GOG, I wonder if we'll finally get that infamous Luftrausers update.

From the Luftrausers entry on fronzelneekburm's "Games that treat GOG customers as second class citizens" GOGmix:

"A bug prevents the completion of this game. "The fix came out just days after the game was released... on Steam. The devs have not made the effort to release a full update to all platforms as they told me they were doing." (ForsakenEagle)"

Actually they never fixed that bug. It still exists in the steam version as well. The devs said they would fix it as soon as they finished Nuclear Throne - but I'm not holding my breath.

[EDIT] However, I don't think "we don't care about our game at all" is much better than "we don't care about the GoG version".
