UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

No Man's Sky a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, DRM-free on GOG.com!

The latest update adds support for AMD Phenom processors (these processors lack a specific instruction set known as SSE4.1) and optimization fixes.

The new patch seems to have fixed alot of the issues the game had for me so I am enjoying it. Would be nice though if there was a manual or "something" along with the game. I know it isn't that difficult to work out what to do but some background story would be nice. Is the GOG version going to include any extras like this for the game?
Dave Gibbons was involved in writing the story for the game. Would be nice to see some of his work as I have followed his stuff for more years than I care to remember.
I don't want to open a can of worms, but I looked on the "Popular" chart for GOG, and No Man's Sky is at number 1551. I almost got carpal tunnel clicking "next".

I have never ever seen a game drop in sales so fast. Usually new releases will stay on the top 20 for at least a couple of weeks. At the very least they'll be in the top 50. It's as if a rumor started that No Man's Sky causes leprosy. Either that, or people heard it's a divisive buggy game that costs $60.

I still really like it though.

Not sure what you're using as your metric for that, but if one looks on Steam, the current "Top Seller" game is No Man's Sky in the #1 position. I don't believe GOG actually has anywhere on the site to click and get an equivalent list. GOG has "Bestsellers" which includes all games sold since the beginning of time I believe with Planescape Torment being the best selling game here. The important thing to know with such lists is "Over what specific time frame?" and I believe GOG's is "since the beginning of time", whereas Steam's is something with a more constrained timeframe, perhaps a week, few weeks, or a month. These companies don't publish what "Top Seller", "Bestseller" or "Popular" actually means mathematically however so it is difficult to draw any solid conclusions from these vague terms unless someone in the know comes forth and speaks what they actually mean.

If I were to draw any assumption based conclusions though, Steam is a much bigger store and having No Man's Sky top their "top seller" list as well as taking the top 3rd slot on Steam stats for most popular game all week, then 4th and now it is in 7th position is not something that very many new game releases can do. No Man's Sky is currently ranking as having more players playing it on Steam currently than Grand Theft Auto 5 - the best selling video game of all time.

To be clear, I'm not defending the game, but rather merely providing more data to consider before making assumptions about the popularity of a game.

The popular list on the front page of GOG, on the right side. I believe that's the popular games over a certain short amount of time.

(I don't give a rat's ass about Steam, BTW. Don't care what's selling there, what people are talking about there, or anything else about the site.)

Hey I just noticed that one too... Didn't think refunds would affect the position, but maybe it does. I bet everyone who refunded the game still plays it with pirated patches, and just pretends they still own it. It's an awful thing to suggest, but I've had a suspicion since a user asked another on here to 'upload the patch files' when it was updated. Can't find the post now...

The fact that it's not even in the top 25 just doesn't make sense if many people still own it here.

A bad launch mixed with the game has a lot of missing promised features might do that. In a purely sandboxy way, it's far less compelling than Minecraft and that is probably a damning conclusion to come to.

On the other hand the game is doing far better on console, then again console wasn't hit with an endless barrage of horror survival and crafting games unlike steam in the last few years. The PC community has seen enough, and with NMS offing nothing new to the table and in many cases far less, I think it's probably being chalked up as a boring game.

Personally I'd recommend Rebel Galaxy instead, All space faring, and probably tons more fun.

What really grinds my gear is STILL NO ONE FROM HELLO GAMES CAME HERE TO ADDRESS ISSUES or POSTED A SINGLE STATEMENT.
"Small indie devs" already priced it as AAA title and "planning on DLC" (which earlier was NOT planing for DLC but for huge UPDATES).
Also it's their fault if game doesn't support Intel Graphics.
I know they wont recompile whole thing for it but it's still their fault.
Sean Murray YOU HAVE FAILED THIS CITY
I worry about the GOG rating system and bad launches. Without the ability to edit reviews games that have a bad launch will forever be saddled with reviews saying it's broken, even if it is later fixed.

On the one hand it kinda serves them right for selling a game at retail pricing to their beta testers, on the other it seems like the ability to modify reviews on Steam would make it a more palatable platform for day one releases since a bad launch can be fixed without eternal baggage.

I daresay the great majority of negative early reviews (no matter if GOG or Steam) are unlikely to be revisited by their authors even if the game improves later on. Most of those folks will have moved on.

All the more reason that GOG should reconsider giving the option to see the most recent review. Who wants to search through 60+ pages to find a current accurate feedback, whether edited or recently added. Anyone not familiar with the game will see the first page or so of trash reviews and move on, I would.
