I just got Pilot Brothers 2 off a Pinata. I vaguely remember Pilot Brothers being a Russian game back in late 90s or early 2000. However the GOG production date shows 2014.

Is this the same game? Is PB2 a new sequel? Why is GOG's release date showing as 2014? Or is my memory completely failing me again?

Wikipedia has no entry and googling simply returns results for the game sold on Steam and GOG.

I think they the date is just the date of GOG release of the game. First Pilot Brothers is too declared as 2014. Maybe they have (new) English translation.

Pilot Brothers is quest series based on equally named ). "Pilot" is probably because the drawing studio is equally named "Pilot". Kolobok is derivative word from Kolob - a pancake bread referenced in 1610 culinary manuscript about cooking for tsars in Moscow and is connected with fairy tale about traveling round pancake.*

About quests themselves, they were released on 199x-200x and here is official site for , absolute games entry.

* I think the idea about brother pilots and bread was "borrowed" into US series "Breadwinners", with wacky but completely different draw style.

The original Pilot Brothers game was released back in the late 90s, as was its sequel, Pilot Brothers 2.

According to one review on the Pilot Brothers page (that of user lauma, titled "Sweet postsoviet childhood memories" and dated Oct 3, 2015), the game released here is a revamped version of the original.

I assume the same applies to Pilot Brothers 2 released here, as comparing the decription on MobyGames (original release) with GOG's one doesn't provide any clarity.

You can see the release date, and the addition on GOG date for all three games on MaGog.

So do you know what are the differences between GOG's release and the 199x originals?

Ditto. Would you know what the difference between original and this is?

No, as I've never played the original, and the reviews on its game page don't help either (no review like fsLeg's one for Pilot Brothers); sorry.

Going by comments on the 1st and 3rd game of the series, I assume Pilot Brothers 2 "suffers" from the same - altered/cut down content, as the revamped versions are apparently ports of the mobile ones that were released a few years back.

If I remember correct, the re-releases happened because the games got reworked for mobile. At least for Pilot Brothers 3, 10 screens got dropped.

Thanks.

I really hate that (shoddily porting mobile versions to PC, especially for games that were available on PC in the first place).

Anyway, thank you all for your answers. I've marked Lin's post as solution for posting links to the originals.
