Why, would you look at that: Gog decided to have their own little Pride Month™ celebration and forgot to tell us! Their Pride Month Collection (where their "queer team members share their favorite games with LGBTQ+ themes and characters") is discreetly hidden away as one of the very last front page banners to come up. No news post, no forum thread, nothing. Can't even find an announcement on their Twitter. (Not that anybody is missing out on much, since none of these games are discounted anyway, lol). It's a bit of a shame that gog doesn't seem to have the cojones to open up a Pride Month thread in their own forum, since it's, paradoxically, supposed to be about pride and all, so I guess I'll have to open one in their stead.

Now, it gets more peculiar: If you decide to randomly change languages, that collection page will be displayed in the selected language. Unless you select Russian or Chinese. In which case the collection page and the short text therein remains in English. Is that banner even visible in those territories? Where's your solidarity with the downtrodden Russian and Chinese LGBTQ+ community?

All of this has me more confused than a teenage boy scout during summer camp.

I don't really get what the Q+ is for in LGBTQ+..."queer" seems redundant, and what does the + sign stand for? On the other hand, I probably don't even want to know.
Anyway, compared to what else is going in our culture, Gog's event seems comparatively tame. But it's of course telling that they're doing it (as is the missing translation into Russian and Chinese).

That show is now 30 years old. Depressing, when I was younger I didn't expect time to pass so quickly. And it seems to become worse the older you get. In the blink of an eye we'll all be dust.

They would get censored by themselves for violating their own forum rules.

What really gets me is realising as I rewatch older shows like it that I'm now the same age (more or less) as characters who used to be so much older than me. In fact, thinking of them that way seems to have become so deeply ingrained for me, that when i was watching DS9 last year and I realised that Bashir only turned 30 in the 3rd season it really blew my mind.

Someone else did post it denouncing it, but it's been removed. Q = queer / questioning.

- Queer is outside the norm and implies > 2 genders. Also used to reclaim offensive term similar to 'nerd', 'geek', 'bitch', etc.
- Questioning is unsure.
- + is for everyone else not in the categories.

Anyway, thanks for your effort, but as I wrote, I don't even really want to know what Q+ is supposed to stand for, it doesn't make any sense to me anyway.

June is for summer and sunshine not this offensive campaign which is an attack against numerous other colourful cultures. "Sign up to view 193 comments." that's why there sucks. It does make you wonder how much some of these companies are getting paid to do this. Even CDPR are at it.

I'm a minority in the community in that I prefer just "queer" as a whole instead of the often-derided "alphabet soup". But many olderfolk do have considerable negative associations (or even trauma) with the word "queer" from before it was reclaimed, sadly.

As for why the plus: For more inclusion. There's also often the inclusion of I (intersex) and A (asexual; or "allies"), and others.

But these are totally different phenomena from homosexuality, with different issues.

As a spectrum, not really. Trans issues and gay issues are deeply intertwined. You cannot discuss trans without an also including and important consideration of intersex. As for asexual, while it's often less-derided in society, it is absolutely an orientation.

Also, why isn't Ikenfell in the collection? It definitely deserves to be.

Saviors of Sapphire Wings gets rather queer later on if you make the protagonist female. I think it's because they would probably have to lock the topic, as this forum does not seem to be able to talk about this sort of thing without it getting into a heated argument. (I made a topic a while ago asking for LGBTQ related games and it ended up getting locked.)
