I'd love to see the Myth games on GOG. I'm genuinely surprised at the lack of enthusiasm on behalf of GOG users, as I always thought they were classics and had assumed they had at least a decent cult following. I have fond memories of the second one especially, and reloading my saves over and over to try and beat missions without losing a single unit. They were really atmospheric, too- the game world really drew you in.

Yeah. I guess that is because after so many years some might forget about them, and as of the rest they never were able to play them, since they did not heard about them. This was the case with a couple of other good games, but since they were added to GOG the interest went up.

With Myth it probably would be the same. Someone would make let;s play on YouTube, some site would make an article about "this great game Myth that we forgot, but now it is being selled on GOG, with no DRM" and suddenly a lot more people would be interested in it.

Ghorpm: Have them all, love them all. Even the third one although I do admit it ruined the series. I wish to see them here.
Have them all, love them all. Even the third one, although I wonder why do many people think it ruined the series?

For me it was pretty weak gameplay-wise, since it didn't bring anything new just seemed to recycle the same elements from 1 and 2, but I loved it story-wise. It was really cool how they fitted the prequel in. Almost as if they planned it already while doing Myth 1.
It wasn't a total flop. I found it a pretty solid addition back then.

Ah brings back memories... "Casualty. Casualty. Casualty. CASUALTIES". Ooops reload.

That level in Myth 2 which consisted almost entirely of dwarves blowing up barrels while defending against hordes and hordes of zombies was something... one of my best video game experiences ever.

Only played the first one back in the day, absolutely loved it. Would be an instabuy, the second one as well as I've only heard good things about that one.

I think it was flop because it did not sell that well and it had bad reviews. That was a nail in the coffin of Myth series. Honestly I did not played it myself :) I read the reviews so I did not buyed it. I guess the same went with many other people. And I don't think they made demo version.
(I didn't read through the thread.)

GOG would love to have them here, and nearly 10,000 combined votes for all three is pretty good - https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=myth &order=votes_total.

I assume the hold-up is legal, Bungie or Take 2 or various parties. EDIT: Hmmm, Wikipedia mentions various parties - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_(series)

Both Myth 1 & 2 are supported by nGlide - http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide/compatibility - and perhaps they run fine w/o nGlide anyway.

Well, if you find a cheap bargain somewhere go for it. If you liked the first 2, you will love it.

I think the reason it was called bad, was because the game-play wasn't innovative enough. Plus at that time, multiplayer was the hype, and Myth 3 wasn't made for it. Its story was excellent though, and its single player experience pretty solid.

GameSpot's Sam Parker scored it 8.4 out of 10, writing "Myth III's single-player game represents the best the Myth series has to offer." He praised the 3D graphics and the storyline, lauding the decision to make a prequel. However, he was critical of the absence of many advertised multiplayer features, the absence of Vengeance, and compatibility issues with Windows XP, expressing concern as to whether MumboJumbo and Take-Two would provide the same level of technical support that Bungie had for the first two games. He concluded "Myth III isn't as well polished a game as its predecessors, but its strong single-player element and solid graphics make it a remarkable game in its own right."

PC Zone's Keith Pullin scored it 7 out 10. He praised the gameplay, the importance of tactics during combat and the graphics, but criticized the repetitiveness of the single-player campaign, concluding "While this third instalment of the series boasts some commendable touches, it rarely manages to fully explode into rip-roaring RTS action. Myth III seems to coast along without ever really breaking sweat."

I have never said Myth 3 is bad because it is not. I still love it and replay it along with the whole series. But I still think it ruined the series in a sense that it got many bad reviews and thus nobody wanted to risk developing another sequel. Sure, it was probably more complicated than that but...

Take-Two bought both Myth and Oni from Bungie, so the hold-up is more than likely a lack of interest on Take-Two's part.

I didn't know that Take2 had the Myth rights.
Now that 2K is on GOG can we hope to see the series here one day?

Maybe if GOG can convince them that any of their old games can sell...
I wrote about and voted for the Myth series on GOG many moons ago, however; I still wait...

This was one of my favorite RTS's because it was tactical in nature and not a base builder like the C&C's of the world..
I remember this game. Played only the demo way back at the time of its release. I couldn't complete the third mission, or maybe it was the second. Too many of my guys got killed in the first encounters, and the "casualty" announcements really unnerved me after a while. But the 3D parabolic trajectory of the dwarves' explosive charges was really something, plus how the body parts were blown all over the place once one landed in the middle of a tight enemy group – really satisfying! I'd love to see the game here.

I had the same problem till I decided to target the enemy.
