It seems like there weren't any new movies put on this website for a REALLY long time, and then I noticed that the new Witcher 3 concert is there now. But why hasn't there been anything in so long? I also noticed that the Gamers movies aren't for sale anymore! It doesn't really affect me because I already have them, but I think that a lot of people would probably like them. That's a bummer.
In the film industry they love drm, copy protections, special chip needed to play the videos, region locks...
For a lack of better words, no one gives a shite. The companies don't, customers don't. I actually forgot it was there until that giveaway happened.

Indeed they do, but there are still tons of movies that GOG could sell if they really wanted to.

Even after the "Movies" section was rebranded to the more niche "Movies for gamers", there are loads of stuff that could be sold here, but which isn't.

From Bedrooms to Billions series comes to mind to begin with.

From what I remember, GOG gave up on the movie business and after the recent twitter mess some of the existing ones were also pulled.

I think it's been there for quite a while already. It's just that no one ever looks into the movie section :P

Because "no one ever looks into the movie section" *lol*
No, seriously. Movies on GOG are dead. It was a nice idea, brought us a very controversial discussion about region locked content and failed horribly. I think GOG isn't searching for any new additions.

Yeah... well... that's because... Have you heard about the whole Linko90 drama? The oh-so-offensive "#WontBeErased" tweet? The guys behind these movies pulled their stuff from the store because GOG is obviously hating transsexuals -.-

Pretty much. They have to have some sort of protection or the investors typically won't invest. Even if it's something like CSS that's completely worthless against preventing duplicate copies from being made.

It's pretty lame as it means that people are often forced to pirate movies in order to play what they've paid for at which point, why bother buying when you have to pirate or crack it anyways?

It's crazy that you have to pay for a player in order to play media you've already bought on a software player. It's not like in the past where you really had to pay for a player.
Indeed, what little potential the movie section had was basically given defenestration when the logical conclusion was reached. GOG didn't even make the effort to snap up popular public domain movies.

What twitter mess are you talking about?

No, I haven't heard about it. What is it? How do they hate transsexuals?

What does cascading stylesheets have to do with this?

The "#WontBeErased" is used by transsexuals as a way of saying they won't be written off anymore, and GOG went and used it in a different context to promote their upcoming game. Which apparently was very offensive by certain news outlets and communities.
Back in the day GOG staff spoke about wanting to add movies like the Original Robocop, which let you glimpse on what they imagine the service to be - a collection of old movies that were popular 20-30 years ago.

Its never happen and they only manage to get small indies movies and documentaries, and so they eventually gave up and let the movie section die.
Ray Donovan the best movie...

Basically the Movie section was a still-birth. It wasn't successful enough to grow, GOG never invested enough money to get big licenses for classical movies and the interest in GOG's user-base was never big enough to justify such an investment either.

A 40-bit cipher. Why even bother?
